Help for a non-Beta n00b?

Can someone point me to a primer on the mechanics of this whole thing? As I understand it the Tower has max... what... 16 people? What is the mechanic for a group of friends getting in the same Tower to go on Strikes or enter the Crucible? Or Raids? I feel like I am missing something obvious here.

For the tower, I am not sure what the max limit of players are on the tower at a time, Is it 16? I can't remember where it said. You can go into the tower or in a match in the crucible with a max of 6 friends or party. But you can also be put on the same tower with your other friends who aren't in your party. A strike is composed of a three man fireteam, that has a objective to complete. Raids I believe are for a party of 6 and require a lot of teamwork to complete and from what we know will have high risk, but a high reward also. Does that help at all?
As I understand it the Tower has max... what... 16 people?
Yep, 16 people can be in the tower, all doing their own thing or performing shenanigans as a Fireteam.
What is the mechanic for a group of friends getting in the same Tower to go on Strikes or enter the Crucible? Or Raids?
You can join your friends while they are in "Orbit". The name for the lobby system in Destiny. Or, if they have an open spot in their Fireteam and their game is joinable you can hop right in whatever activity they're doing. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. That's what we're here for!
