Is anyone else hoping that we will someday be able to visit the Last City somehow? I had visions of walking through the city to find my favorite shady vendor, pushing my way past citizens in various states of existence, from poverty to wealth; experiencing the sense of desperation and hope displayed through the medium of architecture, the contrast of poorly constructed shacks surrounding the perimeter of the City with the skyscrapers of the densely populated center, of sound, hundreds of people talking, haggling, shouting, and other sounds which cities make, of citizens walking by, lounging around, talking with vendors, buying food, etc., of art, whether graffiti scrawled on the side of a shop, or statues and fountains adorning the governmental headquarters of the city. I had hopes of knowing that which I was protecting, of knowing those for whom I fought, of feeling that it was all for something and worth something. The tower really is an Ivory Tower, from which the city is seen only as an Idea. The Speaker tells of frightened children; who sees their fear? Who walks among them and smells the bitter tang of uncertainty and waiting, feels the snap of tension from the seething mass of humanity which depends solely upon you for their continued existence; and who extends their hand to quell their fear, to calm their hearts and show them that We are here, and We are fighting for them? I dearly wished to explore the city for that reason... After all, why did I become a Guardian?

Edited by JessJames1014: 8/30/2014 6:31:00 PMI mean come on, we constantly are looking at the last city while were up in the tower. Bungie must have kicked around the idea of us exploring the last city. #deej #bungie #explorelastcity
-
Couldn't agree more. I'd love to explore the city to which I'm protecting.
-
yes I would ...I would even buy an apartment for my Guardian
-
To the citizens of the Last City Guardians are as feared as they are loved.
-
The thought of exploring a city where the last of humanity cradles is very enticing. Hell I wouldn't mind if it was just a small crafted map so long as its lively and brimming with detail.
-
I hope to explore the city as well

Edited by Nemesis Enforcer: 8/31/2014 7:26:54 PMI love the tower but being able to take that space cab that comes by every once in a while to parts of the city below would add tons of depth to the game and show us what we are protecting. Mass Effect's Citadel comes to mind, and the Purgatory nightclub of course.
-
That's honestly the kind of depth I was EXPECTING destiny to have from the beginning. Sad it's not there and the "last city" is just a backdrop 2D image. :/
-
I hoped to go into some shady Akira type bar sit down and tell fables to ai and players alike about how amazing I am get super wasted and walk out with a distorted screen then go up an elevator that takes me to the tower where I sit and watch the sun rise before my next mission or exploration
-
I wouldn't add anything more to your words because that is exactly how I feel about the Last City. Let us all make a petition for this please! I want to be able to even purchase a home in the city just to feel I have something to bring me back to it besides the Tower alone, which is very small in fact and there isn't a sense of home in it at all.
-
Xeryon I just took the liberty to post your thread in Google + on the Bungie Destiny the Game group and I hope you don't mind. My aim is to get as many petitioners as we can gather. Let's make this a reality!
-
I love this idea!
-
this is why , to explore and reclaim everything for the sake of our glorious skybox . look I understand and share most of your sentiment , I just don't see us combining every inch of it for a good while , and I think there may be some of the tower we haven't explored , saw a door by the speakers chambers that was blocked.
-
You must be a Titan, cause you totally built a wall with that text. Joking of course. On topic: I would love to be able to explore the city and connect with the people I'm trying to save.

OH yeah, thought about that before. I'd like to go down there and look around. I mean, theres plenty of ships coming and going so there must be something cool happening down there. "May the Light be your guide." - GRIMGUARD

I remember when the last city was this awesome place people dreamed about and all we get is the tower. Thanks again, Bungie.
-
I'm sure at some point in the franchise the city will be attacked, and you'll be running through the streets killing aliens.
-
All I want is a library of lore with pics and books
-
Yeah this is exactly what i belived i was buying into from the outset, i mean, no one has said that wont happen, but yeah i do hope it comes to pass.
-
Poetic af damn.

Exploration has always been a favorite trait of mine in ANY game I play. Having a city that you and your friends can walk around in and discuss tactics and missions to do would be awesome, and just a nice little perk. A Clan hall would be awesome as well. A place where you clan members and your own achievements can be displayed for any to see inside and out. To add life to the city, I would even like to see a clan recruitment board that can be made through Bungie.net that any can see in game.

Edited by DoctorVyrus898: 8/31/2014 5:18:02 PMI was really hoping that I would be able to walk the city as well. Similar to mass effect where it was just nice to chill on the citadel and watch the world go by. The tower just feels too sterile. Yes there are guardians there, but it's still just too quiet.

I'm pretty sure they said in an IGN interview that there would be 4 "maps" of the last city. One of which would be on the other side of the wall
