This girl claimed feminism today

We had to give a 4 minute speech in my speech class on whatever we wanted, and this girl went up and talked about how an older man told her that she dressed in appropriately (mind you, she dresses like a slut) and she claimed it was an act of men thinking we are superior, and went on a whole rant about feminism. Unfortunately, I couldn't contain my laughter and remarks, and ended up being used as an "example", and also got 10 points of my speech (not a big deal). Anyway, it's stupid and it's funny how they claim feminism for the simplest of stuff. Smh. Credit to all the normal woman in the world, you the real MVP

  • I still am shocked when any young person is surprised by any old person having a problem with the way the aforementioned young person dresses.

    • There's nothing inherently wrong with feminism... Besides, women are often told that their clothing choices make them actively asking for sexual violence which IS something feminism should fight against. Nobody is ASKING to be sexually assaulted because of an outfit.
older man
Old people complain about almost everything young people do, that's just the way of life. Ha in sixty years we will complain about how we had to use controllers and how T.V's did not allow us see things full angle....

        • Eh... I dunno... Uniform policy can get a bit insane at time (When I was in school there were even limits to how thick your belt could be...). As for outside of school... To be honest there isn't any reason people should judge her for her clothing choices, people wear what they think makes them look good or what they feel comfortable in, kind of a dick move to have a go at someone for it.

              • She just got upset that an old man didn't like the way she dressed. Personally, I don't like the way girls dress either. I mean, it can be hot, but most of the time it is just disgusting. Like when I'm walking around school and half a girl's butt is hanging out of her shorts. That just ain't right.

                • You sound like you're mad. What kind of jackass laughs at another person's speech while they're giving it? Do you really feel so superior that you have to make fun of other people's speech during their presentation, or rather, do you feel so low about yourself you have to make fun of other people to draw attention away from your own faults? I'm guessing the latter because you made a post on Bnet trying to reassure yourself.

                  • Well if she was not dressed appropriately, then she is not dressed appropriately. If a guy has his pants hanging down its the same thing. Being professional is unisex. Maybe it was not exactly mature to laugh at her, but she needs to accept the fact not everyone she meets will approve of her clothing. Especially is she is not dressed appropriately.

                  • I swear, 90% of SJW and pseudo feminist problems can pretty much be solved through the beautiful art of not giving a shit. Hell, they're not even real problems, just pet projects concocted by middle class menstrual tumblr users.

Who was this dude to tell her what was inappropriate or not? Clearly this issue was enough to upset her. And if this was a scholarly environment your professor was right to dock points from you. It is completely disrespectful to laugh even if you disagree or think a presentation is far fetched. Laughing merely speaks to immaturity. Have you ever been told by a complete stranger your apparel was inappropriate? Considering girls are legitimately being removed from class over dress codes that are blatantly unfair towards girls. I.e a bra strap "distracts boys" only shows that the school system values his education over hers. I remember I was sent out of class for having a small hole in the knee of my jeans, while a guy sitting next to me had a muscle shirt on with no sleeves that was ripped down to the waste.

                          • You know im tired of all this feminist BS. Females want equality yet males dont even have that. Each gender has down falls on what they are given by society and how they're seen by society. Neither gender has it better than the other. When the world, mainly females, notice this as a fact then maybe we can work on having some type of equality in this shit for saken world. P.S. I said "Mainly Girls" because as of now in our time period females are the ones feeling opressed and feel they're looked down upon yet they can't see the hard truth that males are just as opressed and seen in a negative way for certain acts they do. /rantover

What you just said is besides the point, the idea that you feel you, along with everyone would not blam someone due to dress. Is entirely disconnected from the sentiment that many people (including women) believe that do in face point towards sexual assault as a consequence of "slutty dress." Main idea of why I disagree
The idea here is not hypocrisy, there is not an action in the world tied to the way you act or look that trumps your wants and needs behind your concept of free will. That applies to sexual assault of verbal abuse. Have you been cat called? I have walked with my girlfriend and been "congratulated" for being with "a slew of derogatory and disgusting phrases directed towards my girlfriend." My girlfriend is vocal as hell and she yelled back that they were degenerate losers. My point if view on catcalling was that it should be ignored, after this incident however, I was ready to chase down the car, meet them at the next traffic light and beat the living shit out if the degenerate loser who just tried to make my significant other feel like an object. There is a slew of standard practice occurrences that men and women pass off until they are subjected to an instance where they finally realize how wrong they were. Feminism exists in order to try and push that mentality into the light, educate individuals tat there is a toxic culture that is brushed off asan exaggerated non-issue. The hypocrisy comes from point if views making judgements on others experiences, deeming them overreactions as they personally couldn't imagine perpetrating an occurrence. The issue here is that it happens ever.
Why I think what I have to say is worth reading: About a month after this incident walking with my girlfriend, I was sitting alone on set of stairs by a crosswalk. I am a 6' tall male and I'm healthy so I like to wear tank tops in the summer. A jeep filled with 4 women stopped at the crosswalk; one said "hey" to me, so I smiled and waved and looked back down at my phone, I was waiting for an uber to pick me up, thinking nothing if it. What I wasn't expecting, was the women to cheer and continue talking, I was told to hop In their car, throw them my tank etc. Along with being told what "we could all do to you." This time around I wasn't the same kind of, I want to rip out your stupid degenerate voice box angry. I was a sick kind if angry, that someone, after I smiled and waved the same way I would when I greet my neighbor walking her dog, people thought it was okay to say these things to me. After they drove off, I literally had no idea what I was supposed to do or how to even respond, at that point I was wondering how my S/O had managed to yell back at her cat callers because after an experience directed at me I felt like I just wanted to go inside and die a little bit. She knew how to respond because she's used to it. How dare someone get used to that occurrence. It's gross that you think received less points than you deserved and laughed at a girl trying to justify that the way she dressed should not be connected to the way she should expect to be treated
