If this is also something you would like to see possibly happen, I encourage you to comment with your agreement. Thanks!
A Guardian Rises is the first story mission and the first activity we get to play in Destiny. I loved the mission, the opening cutscene gave me the chills. But I found something there, even though small, would add to the game greatly.
You have just killed all the Fallen Dregs that ambushed you with your trusty rifle you have picked up. You make your way across the bridge to find a loot cache. This is the first second weapon that your Guardian will get. If you played as the Hunter you found a Sniper. This fits the Hunter nicely. If you played as the Titan you found a shotgun. This fits the Titan's close combat style very well. If you played a Warlock you found a, shotgun. Why a shotgun? Why not a Fusion Rifle?
In a lot of the screenshots, pictures, and in game footage in trailers, they show the Warlock wielding a Fusion Rifle. A Fusion Rifle has elemental power and the Warlock is known for his arcane power more than anything else. Even in the character creation menu the Warlock is wielding a Fusion Rifle.
I am proposing that instead of a Warlock finding a Shotgun in the loot cache in A Guardian Rises, you will find a Fusion Rifle.
Yes, this is small and will not matter an hour after, but it would add a nice little touch and would make the Warlock's combating different and more fit to its purpose.
Thank you for reading this and if you agree please comment with your agreement as said before. :)

I agree

Can we get a bump?

I too was surprised by the warlock/shotgun I however didn't know that the hunter got the sniper rifle. I only player titan and warlock. It would make sense that as their are 3 special weapons one should fall to each class at the beginning. Even if it didn't cater to a players play style. Have to say one of the few community post I agree with. I am in shock.

I found a shotgun as the hunter

I agree. Although a lot of people are CoD players that don't have any experience with guns that require a charge to shoot, it's probably pretty weird for them. Luckily I've played a lot with Halo 4 and I absolutely love the rail gun. Probably one of my favorite guns in that game. It's almost like a fusion rifle in sniper form for those who don't know. I really do think it takes a getting used to. At first I didn't like it as much but I had picked up a decent one and I noticed it took down a Captain's shield and a third of it's health from a mid-range distance. Now I can't, rather, couldn't, use anything else.

Agreed.

The Fusion rifle is definitely a better fit for the Warlock. Thematically, the Sniper goes with the Hunter, the Shotgun goes with the Titan, and the Fusion Rifle goes with the Warlock. Thing is, the Fusion Rifle isn't a simple weapon. It's not something people would be instantly familiar with, and if someone is already relatively new to first-person shooters then throwing in a fusion rifle in the middle of their lesson would throw them for an unnecessary loop. That's why the shotgun takes its place.

Fusion rifle

I play as Titan and i like the Auto Rifle and Scout Rifle.

I think it's because fusion rifles are really OP when you use them right. It's a good idea, but I can see why bungie did it.

This was about the only topic I really wanted to comment on before even looking at the forums because it was one of the only changes I am hoping for in the full game. I preferred the fusion rifle however in the crucible found it nowhere near as effective as it was in the field. I personally would have liked the ability to fire no matter how charged the fusion rifle was, as in weaker shot for shorter charge lethal shot for full charge. I agree it should have been the first weapon for the warlock, though perhaps an antiquated version. I hope there are more varied fusion rifles in the full game. Perhaps one tailored for more crucible type gameplay. Perhaps too late for game release, maybe not too late for DLC's to show the greater association of the fusion rifle to the warlock.

I felt this way too, in the allocation of weapons to my particular characters, and in the disappointment in realising that warlocks and titans got the same exact starting shotgun.
-
I like this idea although I'm a Warlock and I really like the shotgun, but I do like the Fusion Rifle as well (I use the Shotgun a lot more though).

this is great

No wonder I like using the Fusion Rifle for my Warlock.

We need this.

Makes sense ! Hopefully this makes it into the game .

Agreed!

I can stand behind this. It seems fitting and I love fusion rifles a lot myself. Thumbs up!
