The PvP Wilderness

Please Bungie make this!

Sounds good but not for me

Hell no

In the wilderness, the darkness is ever present. Few travelers dare to roam through this lawless land. Those who manage to return alive, reap the highest of rewards. Loot is plentiful, and exotic weapons and armor can be found in the deep levels of the wilderness. Finding exotic loot is not the hard part. You then, have to get out alive. For if you die in the wilderness, you loose everything you found. And you can not respawn. The dangers of the wilderness are numerous. Roaming freely are powerful enemies that even veteran guardians fear. And in the deepest levels are powerful bosses guarding the most exotic loot. But these beasts are the least of your worries. Because the most dangerous enemies of all, are your fellow guardians. The city has no authority here. In the wilderness, guardians hunt each other as they fight on sides of a guerilla war When you die out here, you lose what you have found. And your killer can claim their reward. The wilderness is a ruthless place that tests your ability to survive. Would you dare enter? Note: the wilderness is a specific gametype similar to explore. Update 1: Just at work today I thought up a really interesting idea and some changes to this concept that make this idea work beautifully.i am not sure whether to make a new post or if I should change this one. The basic premise is that the wilderness is the refuge of a exiled guardian whose ghost research was deemed too bold and dangerous. The player would meet this guardian and be forced to decide whether to hunt him down or defend his work. These differing opinions gives rise to two factions that fight in this forsaken wilderness. The Allegient fight his followers known as The Oppulent. After choosing a side it becomes more and more clear that the side you choose is right. After several wilderness missions, you are then told to travel the wilderness and stop the guardians who fight for the other side. I have thought of several ways this could play out. And lots of ideas I haven't mentioned here. I will probably write a new post with the full thing. I think it would make a really interesting layer of depth to the destiny universe. Update 2: While I think this game mode could easily work into the universe with creative storytelling, enough people are still doubtful that I would like to give another alternative. Just as The Crucible is a training excersize, this could be made one as well. Perhaps the you must be tested how to hunt inteligent enimies on a large scale. And in the wilderness, you must face off against other guardians while having to deal with powerful hostile aliens. This option can easily work with the lore, but I think this simulated version would be less thrilling. The idea of a dangerous wild land where you are both the hunter and the hunted is very appealing in my opinion. The mystery and danger would intensify the suspence, and give a very different gameplay than what you are use to. If you have any cool ideas or suggestions, let me know below.

    • Sounds great man! But how it would fit into the story would be interesting. I hope this and the planetary events going around the forums, at least get looked at by Bungie. Some of these are really nice, great ideas! Keep thinking them up!

      • Another interesting idea I had was about where you are likley to run into players. Lets say that there are several spawn areas where you can enter into the wilderness. This idea is designed to prevent camping get and at specific areas of the wilderness. I don't know if Bungie has a system already that changes the likelihood of you running into other players. If not I don't think it would be too difficult to implement. At the entrance to the wilderness there are standard enimies and standard loot. by design, it is very unlikely that you will run into other players. As you venture deeper, the enimies are harder and loot slightly more frequent. This is about 5 minutes of walking. You have to glance at you're radar now and then. And you start to worry about other players. Wandering deeper, you've reached the true danger point. A few boss enemies have laires in the area. Your radar blinks red on the edges frequently. You have seen several guardians. Most trying to keep their distance. One tried to kill you. But now, his corpse lays before you. This guardian kill had granted you decent loot. You have done well; but you fear what lies ahead. You have ventured to the next level of the wilderness. Here is where the great loot lies. Patrolls of enemies roam randomly. Several powerful bosses lurk here. While you are in their lairs you rarely see guardians. But this is no safe haven. Powerful enimies push you to your limit. When you defeat bosses, you get valuable or exotic loot. You radar has at least one red ring at all times. By now you have killed several guardians and got even better loot. If you want to keep your loot you must danger all the way back to the begining, or if you dare you can travel further. Entering the last level of the wilderness is suicide. Guardians are everywhere and it is a desperate fight for survival. Swarms of hive run in packs, searching for anyone who isn't fast enough to escape. There are a few legendary bosses here. Manage to kill them and you recieve exotic gear only obtainable by killing that boss. But there is little hope in getting back to the wilderness enterance. The darkness is everywhere. Few venture this far, and live to tell the tale. If you manage to bring back your exotic loot, you have done what was once thought impossible. Your fellow guardians will look at you in awe. You have become legend.

      • Main problem is that it require a area with massive players count. Now we don't play on bungie's servers but servers manage who get to be the host and to which host players should connect. For only this they must put up the infrastructure to connect to a dedicated server. But how many? 1? So can we get that one server here in Europe? Many around the world? So now they must find physical place to put the server and pay bills there. Not to mention all the development behind your suggestion. How much are you willing to pay for this?

        • I disagree because it breaks story. It's why Bungie stated there isn't open world PvP in explore and such. As Guardians, we're the last ones able to protect humanity from the darkness. To hunt each other down for loot in the Wilderness doesn't sound like it fits? Great idea! I just don't see it fitting in the universe of Destiny that Bungie is trying to create.

          • Love The Idea, absolutely, 100% on board! (Though I would like to see teammate revive but not respawn) That said, I think it goes against the lore of this game and I don't think that is Bungie's vision. It actually sounds more like a CCP (Crowd Control Productions, aka EVE Legion) vision. That and most FPS shooters don't have the gall for this type of game experience, thought as I said, would be very fun.

              • You think PvP is a good idea, try playing DayZ and see if you think it will still work for Destiny. Bandit players will do nothing but hunt other players, they will be super hard to kill and you will endlessly be looking over your shoulder. When you see another player it will be shoot first and ask questions later. Because if they get the jump on you your toast. As soon as you engage some mobs, a 12 year old will jump you from behind with a super and you'll have zero chance of fighting back. Then they'll take your gear. You won't be able to get off your sparrow for fear some sniper will take you out. A three man fire team of bandits will be able to lock down a map section and kill everyone who enters the zone with very little risk as they can revive each other.

                  • The Guardians are basically one faction, so this makes no sense for players to contribute to, but AI Guardians would be more acceptable.

                      • Problem with this, guardians are peaceful towards each other with the common goal of defeating the darkness. They all follow command of that one guy who speaks for the traveler. We don't even know the origians of the guardians. Are they genetically engineered?

                        • I bet your going to buy division when it comes out. but lore wise it would not happen. could in destiny 2, if dead space brake away fully from earth.

                          • You do realize Feedback isnt what you want to see or not see in the game. Its to tell Bungie how something in the game didnt work properly or how something is overpowered or how something is exploited and other problems. Or what they can improve on thats already in the game. These forums are not about what you want or would like in the game.

                            • Guardians are all on the same team. They would not hunt each other. Even the Crucible is supposed to be like training exercises and friendly challenges (you're not looting each other's corpses). If you wanna go be a little griefing psychopath, you should probably play something like DayZ.
