Regarding The Allegedely 2 Exotic Gear Wearable Limit

Sorry for my long introduction here, but pls bear with me until I get to my point and my suggestion. So according to some reddit post and a gaming article ( http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2945l2/legendaryexotic_armor_perks/), we are only able to wear two exotic items, one weapon and one piece of armor. I know this is all speculation at this point, at least I don't know if it got confirmed already, but most of the rumors actually turned out true and also the source is legit. So why bringing that topic up now? Well, I simply think that this is a stupid way of balancing exotic items - probably mainly pvp wise - due to the fact that Bungie just doesn't want to "discriminate" people who are not getting into raids and letting people who are going there feel OP to them. As far as I heard, this step is taken because the items have to powerful bonuses, e.g. a special talent you get with that piece of gear. And I actually agree with those points, because if you could wear any kind of gear with such powerful bonuses it would just make some players purely OP and the others would feel like shit. But on the other hand you would get very fast to the exotic gear you need and there goes the motivation for PVE and also just limiting the powers of gear doesn't facilitate the end game content, it's just less rewarding. Now what could you actually do, to balance this and also make it not too OP, even though giving those who have exotic gear a slightly bigger advantage? And here is why I created this thread and would like to hear your opinion on that. Why not taking advantage over other MMO titles, which also balanced this out. Just give us "Set-Bonuses". I really would appreciate it and would feel much longer motivated in PVE to get my gear, also I wouldn't be OP, because for example for 2 items of the same set you get bonus A and for 4 you get bonus B. That wouldn't make you OP, still making you feel like you achieved something and give you more motivation and reward. I think every MMO player knows what I'm talking about and would appreciate it also. So please feel free to give me your thoughts on this topic and maybe that would a legit alternative to what is planned right now.

  • I think i understand but not sure so im gonna give my example. Lets say for stealth players you have an exotic setup such as Primary: thorn Secondary: patience and time Heavy: no idea what it could be for stealth but just picture it. IF you acquire all those exotics and equip them you get a bonus such as increased movement speed or longer invisibility?????

  • I'd like a raid type where you could have full exotic setups.

  • They should have a rating system for exotics like they do in car games or how they have it in warframe. Your gear is rated and depending on that rating will decide what level of cubicle you can fight or play in. Rather then based on what level you are base it on what you gear rating is.

    • They need to keep it like that too. Have multiple pieces of exotic armor on would make you near invincible. You would have enough light to be like level 45-50,. So raising the exotic armor/weapons limit is a bad idea

      • Bungie is attempting to make semi competitive game. This is their way of balancing it.

      • Have you ever heard if "brand loyalty"? To give someone the benefits of loyalty because they are just that, loyal. It will take time to gain these wonderful items, especially the have the random boosts you are looking to get to perfectly tune your guardian. After all of these runs that you will do, you better believe you will want all that effort to be worth something. I for one want there to be the OP feeling because of the better gear. It will: Allow me to feel great for the time spent Allow me to feel inspired to get better stuff. It is all to give you a reason to stay loyal. Keep at it and equip the exotics you can. It will be one weapon and one armor per guardian. That doesn't meant you can't bring not with you. Just can only equip that much. See you starside.

      • Yeah actually look at the various exotic gear you'll see why you can only equip one. Their traits like giving you new abilities. So exotics just become another strategic way to build yourself for situations.

I'm sure they say in a video exactly what you said. 1 armour piece, 1 weapon. This is an incredibly good way to keep it balanced because nobody can ever become OP due to this limit and everyone will have their weaknesses still. Personally I think how they have done it is the best it can be done. In one of the video they show why this is the case, one of the exotics granted an ability bonus for the subclass of the character, any more of these and it would start to become ridiculous because you wouldn't be forced to make a choice as you are now. If they increase this limit people will just want more and more. Until people can wear complete sets and I definitely don't want that.

      • That's hardly speculation, in Destiny gameplay videos Gaurdians have been shown with multiple Exotics in their inventory, but only wearing one.

      • I like the idea of this a lot. But....
Its not exactly your normal MMO.
Maybe when more content is added in the future they could add this. Great idea though.

      • If the exotic are rare enough and we still have other pieces that you need to farm I'm ok with this since it will add variation to the equipment everyone is wearing. But for now I know too little of it. I want to first see how it will really be
