Now, the game seems to be shaping up rather well. But there's one thing that needs to be considered. Time. Time is something lots of players do not have. Many players work or have other obligations.
So there's a really easy solution that would work without imbalance in the game: the ability to pay real money to get glimmer. This way players could instead focus on playing the game instead of farming like the rest of players and wasting their time. You can't buy gear with real money so you're still at the mercy of loot drops, allowing there to be no real imbalance between players.
Example:
Bob spends 100 quid on glimmer.
Bill spends his time farming that glimmer for free.
No big deal in a game mostly focused on cooperation and strictly balanced PvP sans Iron banner.
What could possibly go wrong? People already pay over ten times the price for Ghost Editions. There's no difference here except how much you love the game and value your time. Being options, this should fit perfectly into everyone's opinions.

At some point in the day, I honestly and truly hope some random passerby takes a running start and punts you square in your balls. I hope they kick your balls so hard that they jump up your throat and out into the mouth you spew this stupidity out of, lodging themselves in the corners of your lower lip and leaving you looking like a down syndrome version of Marlon Brando from The Godfather.

Slippery Slope
-
It's a great idea!!! (Said no one ever)
-
You went full retard
-
How would this affect the random drop of uber weapons and ones gained from completing raids? That's right it wouldn't, so I don't see this being a huge problem. Can you buy exotics or only legendary weapons? People want to enjoy a game they purchased, why should they be left in the dust?
-
NOPE hundreds of games have been ruined because of this stupid -blam!-ing shit!
-
Games with rpg elements are all about the journey, not the destination. Paying irl money to get to the end faster will only serve to give you a cut down experience of the game, and the feeling that the game sucks.
-
Guy buys glimmer. Guy upgrades Cryptarch level. Level 20 Cryptarch in 2 days. Buy legendary and exotic weapons from store without ever having stepped foot in the wilderness. Not a great idea bud, I understand where you're coming from, but just play the game, and enjoy it when you can.
-
I only pay top dollar for fancy hookers. must have all teeth, gold shoes, enjoy golden showers, loves the scat. if you don't know what scat is you don't have enough money.

Edited by Prime: 8/9/2014 3:00:37 AMAs long as there no "renting" of items that otherwise you couldn't aquire. (I.e. Warface, & Blacklight.) If it's only for glimmer, it's kewl.
-
No. Just no. The Light has spoken.
-
Dude the crucible has level advantages disabled. You don't need the best stuff to win and you could still earn glimmer quickly if your good no matter how much time you have. This is the reason half the games out there nickel and dime me for god knows what. I'm already shelling out 60. Plus I'm more than likely getting expansion 1 and 2 for 30 bucks.
-
Great so people could get what others work hard for if they have the money to pay for it? Now THAT seems unbalanced.
-
That completely defeats the purpose of "becoming legend".
-
u get glimmer for everything in the game so there's no real reason to purchase glimmer with real money, now if you don't want to play the game and your planning on staying in crucibles only, then your not gonna get much glimmer. if your really playing the game you wont b in real need of glimmer because most good guns are from loot or chests, the gear sold at the tower is pretty mediocre with the exception of legendary, and black market vendor gear.
-
No this is a big deal. It means that they take away the purpose of spending the time to acquire the things that we want in the game. Micro transactions ruin titles like this

That is probably one of the most unbalancing factors in modern gaming. Leave that shit for iPhone games. Edited by Squishie: 8/9/2014 6:37:33 AMI disagree. People who paid $120 for BF4 Premium were pissed when EA announced battlepacks were no longer obtainable from gameplay, but by micro-transactions. People who paid $120+ for the Ghost Edition and Expansion Pack, only to pay more money for an in game currency will also be pissed.
-
Please no micro transactions

It's official, because of these forums my top 3 hated words are option, loyal, and skill.

I'm not sure that bungie will for that idea. Or who knows, now that they are partnered with Activition. We know they suck the money out of you with all the gun cammo and characters. I'm pretty sure bungie already said there would be no pay for power, which is a good thing.
-
At the risk of sounding negative. No.
Besides, awesome gear is more going to be found not by buying it with glimmer. Lets say you get to a level where you can kick some serious arse. Join a group of raiders and own a boss. That few hours will pay off with epic loot. No glimmer necessary.
-
No no no. No microtransactions that will ruin the game! And btw its just a rich cheat way.. Grind like everyone else. If you can spent money on a game content then you allso can take a free day of work and grind for your self! Instead of the easy way
-
Worst. Idea. Ever.
-
If this happens then it will just become a pay to win game. Nobody wants that. Shut the front door and get out.
