Raids need matchmaking

I know there are numerous posts about this already, but the more feedback they see, maybe Bungie will do something about it. Now to my opinion: First, I am calling BS on anyone who says the raids will be too challenging for a PUG. I have ran Hard Mode in numerous MMO's with PUGs without issue. It just takes communication (although, this seems to be lacking in Destiny as well, but that is another topic). Sure you will get a bad run from time to time, but that happens with a core group too. Someone is just off their game. And I will call BS on anyone saying "the raids will be harder in Destiny". If the rest of the game is any indication, it won't. Hell, the strike was soloable. Second, not everyone has 5+ other friends available. Personally, out of the friends I have on PSN, I think 1 has a PS4. Not quite enough to form a raid. And since there is nothing social about Destiny so far, how does one get those other people? It's not like I can shout in the Tower. Third, in relation to the second topic, since I don't have the required friends (gee Bungie, thanks for the hit to the self esteem), I have no chance to acquire the gear from the raids, putting me at a major disadvantage in PVP (this is assuming the Raid gear could be better then other gear). So why PVP if I am just going to be out-geared and mowed down? Look, I am not anti-social and I would prefer to have a consistent group to run Raids with, but the fact is having 5 other friends on and who are playing Destiny is going to be rare for some of us. Making raids "Friends only" doesn't account for the Real World (I know, how dare I talk about real life!). What if 1 of my core group can't make it one night? Why couldn't we just pop us into Matchmaking for that last player? That is all. Rant finished.

  • Please take this under consideration... I completely understand why people and even devs of Destiny don't want matchmaking for raids; its hard to do without any communication. People don't want MM for this because they don't want randoms in their group. Please take a minute to think about this: If you've got the time to get your friends online, then by ALL means go ahead, dont cockblock those who want the matchmaking.... Let them struggle.... You want to make groups for yourself and your benifits, then DO IT!! Nobody is saying no, matchmaking is the OPTION!! Do you guys know what that means? OPTION? OPTION: the power or right of choosing. <- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/option?s=t which means you can choose between making a team for yourself and going with randoms. NOBODY IS FORCING YOU TO GO WITH RANDOMS!!! its like saying I dont want to go swimming and you shouldn't either... act of being selfish [i could do this but you can't type of thing] [please don't hate, if you do ill take it as you don't understand wtf im saying] Thank you.

    • As a social game Destiny needs better social and group making tools. For people that don't want those tools, they simply don't need to use them. Some of the most awesome people I have met gaming were met in PUG's.

        • The option should be given to run with friends or randoms. I agree with the topic writer, it's well hard enough to get people online at the same time especially given most of us aren't teens and actually have personal lives and jobs ( those in their 20+ age group). If given the choice for match making and then you garner more people with similar gaming schedules as yourself all the better to add them as friends. People let's not forget this is a game, not a bloody life replacement! So definitely lets keep match making and be able to just enjoy raids without having to cause a shit stir in our friends personal schedules.

        • That awkward moment when a whole room full of people start arguing about whether or not some shit they haven't even seen yet is broken. It's like watching little kids shake the Christmas presents to see what they sound like, and then complaining that they're the wrong color. #shipfirstbitchlater

          • *I think they should remove matchmaking for crucible too...if you don't have a full team you can't strategize and pre plan the route taken on that map and everyone's role. Also you won't have to worry about anyone leaving the game because you invited them so they won't ever disconnect or have something to do or somewhere to go. Also if one team is a full team of 6 friends and the other is 6 randoms it's completely unfair so it needs to be complete 6 player fire team before you can search for another full 6 player team. Basically logic in raids. I completely see where people come from with no matchmaking and I have read probably every post on it. Just look at the same situation if applied to any other mode. It's absurd. Plus no one is forcing anyone to search for randoms, you can still play with your clans or friends or anyone you met but the OPTION to search is there especially because were are so socially limited in destiny..

            • I'm with mm raiding but it needs to be different from normal raiding... 1: Needs to be shorter and easier since the reason people want it is because they don't have enough time to make a raiding group. 2: The armor / weapons earned needs to be weaker compared to normal raiding weapons / armor. 3: The weapons / armor need to look different so that people can distinguish normal raiders from mm raiders.

              • Matchmaking raids is a terrible idea. Join a clan, exchange ragas and run with them. You must have been playing some cheesy mmo, any hard mode content in a pug is a terrible idea. Hard mode end game Pug groups only work with a full group of mature above average players... Destiny won't. Destiny is going to be filled with casual CoD and BF players. I don't want to pug that raid when top halo clans couldn't clear it in 16 hours of trying... Everyone's best bet is to join a clan early, play with people, get to know them, if it's a good fit, then you should be good.

                • If you actually watch the video that spared this topic, you would understand why they didn't add matchmaking for the raids. They didn't go into detail as to exactly why they are harder then the rest of the game. They did say they are not your typical mmo raid, they added there own spin to them. The biggest problem I see with matchmaking is there is no communication. People hardly use there mics. When they do it's usually that enjoying little kid dropping f-bombs every two seconds. I personally don't want to spend a couple of hours doing a raid just to have someone leave because it's taking to long. Then we end up failing because we are a guardian short. You make it sound like it is going to be imposibl to find anyone to do a raid with. Lastly they know there taking a risk not adding matchmaking for raids, but, it a risk they believe in.

Totally agree. Luke and Bungie need to stop being so controlling. Let your players choose how to play the game ffs. You're taking your star activity and limiting it to serious gamers (non-taxpayers, teens and Destiny addicts) and forgetting about all those that have a life, and casual players. Not everyone is going to have a microphone... And the majority of your players aint going to use these forums. I understand Luke's concern that pick-up-groups are going to have a harder time at raids. Well so what? If your players want to try, then give them the medium to form such a group and try. And if we don't succeed the first time, its not a big deal. Eventually, we'll all learn the fights. And we'll meet new friends we get matched to. Personally, I ran PUGs all the time for WoW. I lead some of them and it was fun teaching others who will otherwise not have an opportunity to make progress in the raids. Bungie should allow their players to choose the way they play. There's no need to be a control freak.

                  • +1 from me too. Even if you get 6 people together if someone drops out that's it? No pugging a random to fill the spot. Guess I'll be able to look at raid bosses on youtube cos I ain't seeing them in game. Dick move IMO.

Totally agree! I don't want to waste hours just to find randoms on the forums or hope I get enough friends online that are willing to do a raid for 3 hours (thats if they have Destiny). I just want to get on and play!

                    • I also believe that raids need matchmaking or at least matchmaking of two fireteams. I have the xbox one and all my friends are still on 360 so I only have enough friends to make a 3 man fireteam and if this keeps us from being able to participate in this game mode and get the legendary/exotic loot at the end I am going to be pretty ticked off

                    • Pugs aren't the problem with matchmaking, it's the total randomness of who you'd get(Think LFR quality players in WoW but in Normal mode. No bosses would ever be killed). With a pug you can talk to them before hand and also remove them if they become a problem, so of course you've had successful runs with pugged players. The inability to pug players is crazy. What absolutely needs to happen is more open voice communication. They also need a looking for group feature. I shouldn't have to add someone to my xbox live friend's list just to run a raid.

                    • Pointless bickering. A whole bunch of hand wringing excuses that limiting means of entry will surely make raids better. I don't want to spend a bunch of time digging for people either on the internet or in game, which I can't because there is no social aspect in the social game. Basically they want you to force your friends to buy Destiny to raid and limited your means to make a raid team from playing the game.

                    • Plus, it's not like a matchmaking system would FORCE people who have that core group to use it. It would just be for us people who don't have a core group. And let us deal with the consequences of it. If you don't need a matchmaking system to raid, then don't whine about it. Those of use who do need it want one, regardless of the possible problems.

                      • I can see how wanting matchmaking possible would be beneficial to some, maybe even most. But maybe they are trying to implement the whole clan and alliance thing for just this reason. Then you can add people on your friends list and have more people to choose from. I played Guild Wars 2 for a long time and they had a site where you could go and request people to do dungeon runs on there. This could be utilized here in the forums. Just a few thoughts.
