Did the Traveler make us zombies?
I've seen a few people wondering how respawning fits into the narrative of Destiny and I think I might have a possible answer. The Ghosts come from the Traveler right? Seems a bit of a forshadowy name on its own, but could it be possible they are able to reanimate or revitalize corpses? Our Ghost just finds us chilling outside the wall leading into the Cosmodrome and revives us, whose to say it didn't just happen to find some random dead body? Our character speaks a little bit, but there doesn't seem to be any real indication of them having backstories, so maybe the Ghosts breath life into bodies they find by tying themselves to said body and granting it the power of the Traveler and make a new person as a result. Upon taking enough damage, perhaps the Ghost converts our bodies into some form of energy and puts it in stasis, explaining the point of life a dead player becomes.
Would be convenient for the Traveler to be able to use the dead as its own guardians. Just a thought.

We were always guardians before the ghost fount us am revived us. Guardians have the special ability to use the light of traveler. No one else on earth can do that,only a guardian. So we was already guardians but according to our ghost. We died long ago an was probably dead,decayed skeletons when the ghost fount us. As it was scanning other skeletons. Looking for someone who had the travelers light in them(a guardian) Now I'm assuming that because guardians have a small amount of the travelers magical light in them that the traveler is able to use its power to revive us from the dead fully back to life. Not into a zombie, but a full blown living guardian. You have to think of it like this. The traveler was able to instantly breath life into non hospitable planets like mars an Venus. It Terra formed 2 planets that humans could never have done our selves. 2 planets we would never be able to colonize with the travelers ancient magic powers. So if it can turn a desolate,dead planet into a spiraling jungle paradise then I'm sure it can manage to revive a dead guardian into a entire living one with ease.

Thing I don't understand is how can your ghost respawn you all hunky dory then theres all these ghost laying around dead makes me think its ghost running out of power thus their host not being able to be brought back but then on top of that why when you revive the ghost do they not bring their guardian back with them???

1 Replyya because you are a dead body at the beginning. But I think you have to be special in some way. The ghost says it was looking for you and passed up another dead body saying it wasnt right.

So that could mean that the respawn is just a necessary game mechanic and has no bearing in the story. However, in passing your ghost remarks there's not a trace of the light. Could be referring to the ghost of the dead guardian, but if he's referring to guardian himself that mean we might all be light zombies and only walk around as long as the light is inside us. Which could mean that the light could be harnessed from killing guardians. Which would kind of be awesome.
