I accidentally posted this somewhere else, so pardon my double. It seems like the "explore" mode is a good opportunity to let players quest and grind wherever they want, the issue is once you outlevel the content you'll just move on to the next zone. You guys should have a "heroic explore" mode for top level players only within every zone similar to how Diablo III transitioned to a system to make every area relevant. I hate seeing good content wasted and since the system is already in place for infinite missions and grinding - why limit it to just the final area?

They won't do this though.. It's like a entire set of servers doing the same thing that the non-hardcore servers are doing. Bungie doesn't want to create all these different places for the player base to be spread apart. And a hardcore explore mode would do that. All the noobs would be playing alone in a much smaller population that the high level gamers. We don't want this to happen or else it will push away newcomers. Solely my on the fly opinion

Edited by k MaST3R FLeX: 9/2/2014 1:35:14 AMbungie stated stuff about this already. let's say you're in the beginning of leveling in old Russia; you're going to run into aliens that are way too high for you to kill. they want you to move on with the game until you are high enough to kill them. what they're trying to do is have you remember where everything is and know the world of destiny from top to bottom. edit: so they're will be places in low level places that you'll have to come back to when you're a higher level.

True but look at it this way, their probably trying to create planets as difficulty settings. Earth being the starter planet then mars being higher explore difficulty. Other than that I agree with you.

Edited by The Zodiac Brave: 8/29/2014 4:00:54 AMDestiny Hangout On Air with Bungie: http://youtu.be/v_mOYZackTM in this interview they mention that there will be several difficulty settings that you can use to take the training wheels off in the PvE environment. not sure if that applies to the explore mode specifically, but i don't see why it wouldn't. i do agree though, i hope there's some sort of analog to the legendary difficulty from the halo games.

if anybody wants someone to play with, add isucki. PS4.

My response to this beside the game doing scaling so low level stuff can still kill you, let's wait and see about NightFall. I got some funny feelings that will be taking us to places we already been.

You dont out level content. My understanding is it lowers you to the level of the area so you dont just roflsromp your way through events etc

I agree needs to switch to 'level 20 mode' once you're done levelling. That's where everyone will spend most of their time. Would be dumb to have only the last zone as high level so you never bother going back to previous zones. Ideally for stories and strikes too so you have a loads of options to grind out xp, loot and rep. Shouldn't be too hard to implement if it isn't already. Just a case of replacing all the mobs with level 20 versions of the same type.
-
That's where the different planets come in. When you top level 6-8 you stop exploring on Earth, until you are high enough to take out the "unkillables" (if they are still there). You move on to Explore mode on Moon. Then (probably) Venus. or Mars. Then you have your strikes and raids.

It could max out the level of content across all areas so we're not just stuck exploring whatever area is at that level normally in the game. Would love to see this!

Ok there was 2 areas in beta that had lvl 20 dreggs and lvl 20 hive knights. Hive was in subway, Dreggs was where the beached or wrecked ships was.

If I have understood the information from the various articles and videos the explore will be on level with your character and the on-the-fly-matchmaking will make sure that everyone the you can actually see and interact with is at your level as well, so heroic mode isnt really necessary for explore. Not to mention that increasing the difficulty of the story missions did not actually increase the levels of your enemies, it did make them slightly more aggressive, but it mostly just increased their numbers.

There are some are some spots where there are lv 18 enemies But are immune to all attacks in the beta. Bungie will probably just expand on that.
-
That'd be cool. I would like to have a challenge in explore mode.
-
They could apply the heroic difficulty to the transitional areas and missions would take the heroics there while sharing the main areas with everyone. Just a thought on this.
-
Agreed, if the programming doesn't phase you out. I don't think you would be able to help a lower level. The heroic Setting might phase you out from the lower levels, making you not show off your badassness and help them out perhaps. Good idea, but don't think programming is possible yet. Besides there are probably "zones" or "areas" in Old Russia that are end game content(for now). In WoW you had large areas that were just end game quests and it wasn't easy, and I'm sure Bungie won't mess around... We haven't experienced King's Watch in Old Russia, nor beneath Old Russia... So the free roam Will have difficult areas, but as for setting them to heroic would be badass, but I don't think technology is there yet. Just as I would like to have the fluidity that WoW has from town to town and city to city, and loaded only across continents.

Yes please.

I am fairly sure that is a feature. In Old Russia the Grotto was full of level 20 enemies. Not that you could do anything to them at 8 but they were there.
