A lot of stuff I got in the beta by killing something and running over it. I think it would add an interesting dynamic if those items could be lost the same way. Maybe if your not revived and a npc crosses your revive. Things you earn rather than randomly find should stay with you. Suggestions?

I think it should be an option as a harder difficulty. For example. One server when you die you don't loose anything but on another you die and you loose gear or worse permadeath

Bad idea bro

Could take the borderlands/defiance approach (lose money every time you respawn). It's simple and can make dying a lot very frustrating. I'm all for making death a bad thing but loss of gear seems a bit much.

No disrespect. I understand the realism you are suggesting, and what it would bring to the table. I cannot agree that an item in your loot stream be lost after you've earned or discovered it. The moment there's lag, a spike in latency issues, an electrical discharge interfering with your internet connection, a DDOS, or anything that interferes with the functionality of the game that costs you what you earned is not something you should be punished for by the removal of your achievements. In a Raid... This would be completely wrong to implement let alone simple gameplay. My opinion does not make me right. It just means we have different gaming preferences. Cheers.

I would be pretty pissed off if I lost the Legendary weapon I had gotten the mission before because a bunch of Thrall rushed me when I wasn't expecting it. Weapon/gear loss, I would not be a fan of. That being said, there needs to be a penalty to dying. Right now, it's hit X (or square) and respawn. 5 seconds later (or 30 in restricted areas), you're back in the fight with all your ammo and gear and money. I understand that Bungie wants us to feel awesome, but that's a bit much. I expect that Bungie will enact some sort of penalty for battlefield deaths. Maybe have to repair armor, SWTOR-style: little damage taken over time, but dying damages more? And when revived, you have the option of accepting the revive and paying with glimmer but taking less armor damage, or waiting to respawn normally and save your glimmer but take more armor damage. There's a bunch of stuff they could (and really should) do to make dying a less pleasant prospect, but I don't think item loss is a good one. The moment someone takes away my locked-in hand cannon.... bad things will happen.

No. Bungie wants people to push themselves and aspire to conquer the game's hardest levels. Punishing people for dying, by taking things away from them works at cross-purposes to their larger goal for the game.

Maybe some awesome pick up weapons in pvp but you have to survive the round to keep it.

Nope that would be like the cod bf series
