Bungie was too busy dropping the ball by telling themselves they were expanding off the rails to create basically the same prior experiences. Of course flying your own ship would've been epic. Star Citizen has broken records on crowd funding. Players want space sims again. Bungie could have capitalized on that, but instead chose not to. The sad part is they would've been great at it. Five hundred developers saying they wanted to tap into the inner kid basically got schooled by five guys from Hello Games on what the inner kid really wants. Spaceships and space dinosaurs.
