Now that the beta is open to everyone, everyone can get the special emblem or whatever tomorrow. Everyone. Seriously? So now everyone who goes there for a minute or two can say "Oh yeah I was in the beta" when really they were allowed in for a day or two, without a pre-order, and got the special item. Some (most) of us pre-ordered the game and played through it from the beginning to earn such a right to say we were in the beta, that we are "Founders." It's like they're taking away all of the things we've worked for and giving them out to everyone who didn't do anything to earn them.
I rest my case.
EDIT:
This case is closed....
The emblem isn't for beta testers.
It's for setting a record for the highest "concurrency" before launch.
There was never gonna be an emblem for playing the beta, just like there wasn't for the alpha.
This argument doesn't matter anymore.
But now we can all enjoy setting a record together, as guardians, old and new.
Thanks for everyone who responded to this topic, I appreciate everyone's opinions on the matter and I hope everyone else does too. This isn't a fight, it's a discussion, so no one won and no one lost. We all need to just move on from this and accept that it's over. Once again, thanks for the discussion and I wish y'all a good day/night.

Necro...

The emblem you get looks shit anyway.
-
i know this is kind of old news, but you need to get off your high horse because you participated in a "beta" that was really more of a stress test then beta test that youre a "founder" give me a break
-
It wasn't special before. If you weren't certain about the game you could just pre order online for free and get yourself 3 codes.
-
Bungie really should do something for the people who pre ordered and played the beta....atleast a special ship or vehicle
-
I completely agree; those who did NOT pre-order shouldn't be able to redeem the 'exclusive' rewards. However, as you can see here (http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/66805367/0/0/1) the generalized community on this forum probably did not pre-order, and don't understand what 'exclusive' means.

Edited by FailedStrike: 7/26/2014 4:05:40 PMDoesn't bother me. I will still have an exclusive emblem that only people who are getting the Limited or Ghost Edition get. And think of it like this. Those who didn't pre-order the game only get the Beta emblem. Those of us who pre-ordered the game get instant access to the Vanguard Armory. People who didn't pre-order are going to have to bust their ass to get the gear we get instantly.
-
I cannot get anyone to see my thread, so could you take a minute to listen? I want some of the legendary armor. Anyone know how get Vanguard Marks fast? Just want the chest armor (65 VM)

I'm torn. On one hand It's silly to worry about these 1st world kinda problems; on the second hand IT IS something that really just ticks me off. In the gears of war 3 beta I played and got the limited thrashball cole skin then months later they sell it, as dlc, and I was pissed it was identical aside from a small trim color change. It makes me feel like wtf? why go through the effort to show my support? I know for many a beta should be treated like a demo and we aren't entitled to anything and I agree, but we ARE the hardcore fans, we ARE the ones that are dedicated and you know, I don't know, I just feel like there should be something that helps denote that, that personal investment from us.
-
I'm embarrassed that this many Americans do not understand the concept of Time Zones.
-
I totally agree it should only be for the people who pre ordered the game.
-
I agree, the emblem loses the value now the beta went public, but I don't think that's something to be whining about. It's a beta and is free.
-
I am super excited to go to the Moon! I don't care about a stupid emblem that I probably am only going to use once or twice. I am happy everyone gets to experience Destiny.
-
I didn't even get my emblem or a message saying I was part of it lmao And I know I was there because I was playing the moon mission as it started, I think it was because I was online before it actually started and never logged out and back in while it was going on. Idek

Sadly I start work right when the event begins.. I'm gonna be making pizza boxes and thinking of all the guardians running around the moon dancing happy times while I'm pounding dough. ERGHJH!!! Not fair..
-
Sometimes you just have to S the D man. It'll be okay.

Your life will be a lot happier if you concentrate on what you have rather than what other people have. Personally I preordered but haven't paid a penny yet (pre/orders that charge are to be avoided). I've got in to a beta to let me get a feel for the game and whether to keep my preorder (upgraded to digital ghost) in return for some stress testing work (known as playing the game). Later today Bungie will unlock a bit more of the world as an extra special teaser for the full game and I'll be there to play it and get a little commemorative item. There: sounds quite good when put like that doesn't it?
-
At least we played through the beta and enjoyed it. To the moon!
-
So it's all about whether or not your exclusive? Not really about testing server concurrent capacity? The reason they open the beta was to get as many players as they could to join at once to test the system. The reason for the beta wasn't so much for anyone's preview (just a bonus) as it was about testing the rollout, testing for problems and gauging capacity capabilities across platforms. Simple. When you do an in-house test or an alpha, very few, comparatively, are able to access, so no tax on the servers. Just bug checking. When you prep for release, you need to know that in an MMO the servers will keep up, so you try to get hundreds of thousands (or millions) on, rather than a few thousand.
-
Lol u act like it was hard to preorder the game
-
Personally I wish we can just carry the character over bungie can keep the emblem
-
I don't get it, I've been on since 12:00 up until now and still nothing?
-
Do we have to play a specific event or could we just be on at that time?
-
Edited by Carpetfluff: 7/26/2014 6:04:03 PMLet's be honest about it; how many people were going to use their beta logo past the first day anyway? No one who saw it was going to be impressed by it. There are some really nice emblems in the game. The fact more people will have it does not matter unless you have some kind of petty superiority complex. I'll be happy to take all my alpha and beta time into the full game and use it to help me get the most out of the first few days of play.

Edited by SoloPopo: 7/26/2014 5:26:22 PMOh boy, here we go. Recon all over again. If you want something to show of in game. Earn in like a true guardian.

Playing on the moon isnt special?
