Whenever you join a friends party while in-game, you can only hear them if you have the party "snapped" if you unsnap it, you wont be able to talk to your friends unless you exit the game completly. Something Bungie should know about and fix.

The entire chat system was bugged on Xbox One. Not only did you need to have your party snapped the entire time you used the party system with Destiny... but the in game chat system was also bugged. Any time you left Destiny, for example going to your dashboard, the chat would cut out and come back on as soon as you had Destiny full screen.

I hate this party chat bug !!! only ingame chat works for me and my friends
-
I had the same bug. Had to do a hard reset of my system. I found there was a high pitch buzzing noise as soon as I opened party chat in addition to the problem you have outlined here.
-
This is something to do with the Fireteam chat my friends and I found that the only way around this currently is that you all need to be in the same Fireteam and in game chat and that should work I hope this gets fixed though
-
I added this idea to my post as well in hopes of getting it added!
-
i so agree and the fire team chat sucked for me it cuts in and out alot
-
Edited by james roughley: 7/25/2014 4:09:54 PMi agree it's really annoying
-
Don't know if anyone has answered but you can fix this bug by backing out the game to the home whilst snapped, booting another game, unsnapping the chat then booting destiny back up
-
OMG this was annoying the heck out of me today!!!
Whenever you join a friends party while in-game, you can only hear them if you have the party "snapped" if you unsnap it, you wont be able to talk to your friends unless you exit the game completly. Something Bungie should know about and fix.
I'm having this same problem as of 7/25.

I had that problem yesterday but then it worked fine for me today but my buddies still had the problem.
-
Thankfully someone else has had this problem and acknowledged it. Thought I was the only one for a minute there.
-
I've had the same problem at the beginning of the beta, It doesn't happen for me now as far as I've noticed
-
Yes this is such a issue

-
Yep, very much in need of fixing.
-
Same here. While switching to in-game chat is a good workaround, there will be times where I want to party it up with people playing other games. Pri-1 bug!
-
If you are having extensive trouble, and it is getting annoying, go to game chat. Game chat in Destiny does not work like, say Halo, where everyone is talking at once. Only your fire team can hear you, if you are not in one, you are sitting forever alone in silence (that was a joke).
-
I'm having the exact same problem, we're forced to go into game chat and the sound quality is much worse
-
Had this issue last night trying to play with friends. The way we resolved it was to use the 'switch to game chat' menu button on the party app. 1. invite friends to game & party 2. use party app menu 'switch to game chat' 3. unsnap and chat!
-
You can start another game and unsnap then start up destiny and play full screen while chatting with your friends. Remember not to snap party while playing destiny beta. Have fun :)

Edited by ELEMENTAL: 7/24/2014 6:43:40 PMSame issue here. I've also been having a problem with my fireteam being "closed", but there isn't an option available to change it.
-
same issue here last night. annoying
-
Same issue for me, what i had to do to resolve the issue was uninstall party because there was a problem in the last update for Party.
-
Worked fine for me without having it snapped.
-
same thing for me!
