Persistent centipede errors on sign on after being able to play without issue

[b]Update: If you have been blocked by recurring Centipede errors after having been able to play successfully (#3 below), we are applying a fix that will resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the solution will reset your characters. This is expected to happen over the next few hours. [/b] WORKAROUND: To ensure that you no longer hit this issue, do not delete characters after using the vault in the tower. Original Post: We've been investigating the reports of centipede errors that have been popping up on the forums. There are a few ways you can hit centipede errors. 1. I have never connected and get centipede when I try to sign on 2. I randomly get centipede when I play [b][u]3. I was able to play just fine, and all of a sudden I get centipede errors all the time and can't sign in[/u].[/b] 1 and 2 appear to be networking issues. This thread is concerned with [b]#3[/b]. #3 is an issue that we're tracking internally that I want to get more info about. Based on user reports and assistance, we identified a timing issue having to do with swapping quickly items between characters using the tower vault. We applied a fix and did some fixup of a number of affected users. However, not all affected users could be fixed up. So we're continuing to investigate solutions. We suspect there may be more ways to hit this error, and we need your help to find them. If you were at some point able to play [b]after the maintenance period[/b], but then were blocked from signing on due to centipede errors, please reply to this post with the following: 1. Gamertag / Online ID of all affected profiles (send this to me in a PM if you're not comfortable posting this information publicly) 2. What was the last time you were able to properly sign in and play (date, time and time zone) 3. What was the last time you tried to sign in and got centipedes (date, time and time zone) 4. Had you used the account vault at all between being able to play and seeing persistent centipedes? 5. Have you deleted any characters between being able to play and seeing persistent centipedes? 6. if you had not done 4 or 5, please give as detailed an account of your play between when you last played, and when you started seeing centipede errors.

      1. aLLniks (XBOX One) 2. Sept 25 around noon on East Coast 3. Sept 25 around 6pm on East Coast 4. I have never used the account vault. 5. I have never deleted a character 6. I was in the middle of a strike on Mars when I was kicked out and then received centipede repeatedly.

      • EternalArsenal I could sign in yesterday at 4:00 , but was swiftly kicked from the servers. I never got centipede before the most recent patch I only use one character and the errors occured after I tried loging on again

      • 1. psn account: dolphin_man12 2. havent been able to play since 9/25 3:00 pm MST 3. I try and sign in about every 30 minutes 4. no 5. no 6. I started a new character right about the time the patch went live. I was able to play for an hour or so. I when to the tower to turn in some bounties after completing them on patrol. I experience several error codes in the tower but was able to sign on still. Shortly after I was kicked again and have been receiving centipede errors ever since. may i add that my roommate is able to play on the same network as me so it is definitely not my connection.

        1. Forinn ps3 2. About an hour or so ago 9/26 6:30pm central 3. Still happening :( 4. Yes! I just bought the awesome exotic weapon from Xur and wasn't going to play right then so I put it in the vault and let my girlfriend play her hunter and try it out by getting it from the vault. She was able to play several crucible matches no problem then kicked her suddenly. Right before it was my turn to play :( and haven't been able to sign back in since. There was a glitch that we observered before this happened also. When she was in tower she couldn't turn in certain items to the cryptarch (200 glimmer items). And when she was in orbit it displayed her lvl and grimior score both as 0. Not sure if that is related.

        • 1. Adrennalynn xbox 360 2. Yesterday 9/25 at around 10pm est, logged out normally no kickouts 3. Today 9/26 at around 8pm est, can't even get to my character screen 4. No, never used the vault 5. No only have one hunter character 6. Mostly crucible, finished the 15 sniper headshots bounty for queen. Abandoned 2 bounties I couldn't do. Was able to finally get the queens shader and emblem and changed my character so it's wearing those. Got a new piece of armor that boosted my character to light lvl 23. I think that's it really. My profile won't even load my character today if that's any significance.

        • For some reason I cannot join any friends fire teams and matchmaking doesn't work. In the world I can't find anyone. The last time this worked was yesterday September 25th at 10:30 EST and it stopped working was today September 26 at 6:30 EST.

            FlacoDelRocko on Ps4. Last played successfully between noon 1pm pacific time on 9/25. Tried to log in at 4:51 pacific time 9/26. Constant centipede errors since around 12-1pm pacific on 9/25. Yes I believe I had been using the vault and getting items decrypted. I got an initial centipede error, logged back in and had lost a rare scout rifle and two bounties I had turned in were back in my inventory. Please help.

          • 1.Mykie666 2.Last Night 3. EST 6. It looks like this time it's a HotFix problem... I tried getting on at random times from 4-7:45 and I can't get past the loading screen right before you would usually pick a character, the error code is centipede and it's not a internet thing cause everything is working perfectly fine... It just keeps saying I lost connection to destiny servers... Any info would be great, cause I don't wanna miss that Xuo guy who sells things for strange coins, I can finally afford something this week and it would be a shame to never find out if he changes his sales

Then during a strike i was kicked out Logged back in played a few control missions then i got kicked out again and wasn't allowed back in since. Just tried it again and its the centipede error...

Decided to play in the Crucible for about three or four hours afterwards. Have been attempting to log in this afternoon and received the centipede error code after each of my log in attempts.

If you are really having to resort to wiping characters I really hope you plan on some kind of reimbursement because this is highly irritating.
