While we had some snowfall in the Alpha in Old Russia I noticed no real weather patterns for the Tower.
Some clouds and the occasional mist, but nothing really substantial. One of the best moments in large simulated environments is weather effects.
Rain, fog, snow, and thunder storms would add some nice ambience to the Tower and some of its local bars and covered areas.
Also the Vanguard Window has some spectacular vistas that would be fun to see in a rain storm.
Some would say why? Of course?
But out of all of GTA V's nonsense when a storm crops up I find myself sitting in the redwoods in my car enjoying the artistry used to create the event.
Skyrim had this effect as well when a snow storm would end and you could see all of the northern coast from the College. Then it would fade once again into the snow fall.
Those little weather effects leave lasting impressions. Hopefully such touches will add to the experience of wandering the Tower and the Hall of Guardians when the full game releases.

I concur.

I agree with you, I noticed the snow when in battle but in the Tower I spent most my time dancing and kicking around a soccer ball hahah...but an awesome storm would be cool or maybe some Northern Lights action XD

Edited by ZERO XVII 17: 6/22/2014 4:39:43 AMI would LOVE to have rain in the tower. There were all of these puddles everywhere like it just rained but there was no rain in the Alpha.

And volcanoes

Don't forget tornadoes

Unless, of course, the protective field emanating from the Traveler prevents weather in the traditional sense from happening inside the walls of the last city. If the city is off the coast of Southeast Asia as speculated, then the last thing we need are typhoons, tropical storms, and tsunamis. However, depending on how big the protective field is, it would be theoretically possible for moisture trapped inside the barrier to condense into clouds and precipitate as rain. As long as they root Destiny's weather in the lore then I don't care what they do with it.
-
And not the type weather that only falls around the player in a 10 ft circle, real rain and weather.
-
I'll admit that the weather patterns can sometimes make or break games but having it in the tower seems a bit unnecessary. 90% of the tower is indoors, only a small part of the tower had an open sky. Bungie could even get away with saying that having the Traveller close by could be preventing normal weather patterns from occurring. I did notice in Old Russia that some of the snow lagged when going inside. You would run inside but it would still be snowing for 2 - 3 seconds. I assume this will be fixed before release but I do think that would be a priority over the tower weather. It is also a little nice to go back to a nice sunny tower after spending 3 hours killing bosses in a swamp or dessert too.

It would be cool if the weather effects could affect gameplay.Fog dampens your vision, snow slows us down, rain makes certain abilities weaker(example:nova bomb is weaker due to its fire element,I think?Hunter's speed knife skill is harder to control) thunder storms will flash and act like a flash bang if in its radius, and also damage you if you stand too close to it.

Can't argue with a little rain now and then.

I fully endorse this message.

This.
-
I can just imagine a full-on heavy thunderstorm going on while I walk around the tower.
-
Il make it rain
-
This would be good for machinmas

How can weather appear on the Tower/The City? Look what The Traveler is doing, casting an aura of protective shielding....so weather might be one lol or that the sphere blocks out the sun and clouds even though it's small during the gameplay xD

Hell yeahhhh..... Rain, fog, bad ass thunderstorms n lightning out in the distance .... Heavy snow .... That b awesome !!!!! Such pretty screenshots while looking at the "traveler"
-
Brilliant
-
How should it rain at the tower?? The city is build right under the traveler. Even if it would rain the traveler would be like a big umbrella
-
Sandstorms in Mars.

I would love to have effects like that, Its nice to sometimes just walk around and look at the scenery..

Edited by Belatar: 6/22/2014 4:41:50 PMWeather should be a given with a OpenWorld games now a-days. If its not they Destiny has failed at what Oblivion could achieved, even Minecraft has achieved this. Older games have weather! So its like they cant they would just be lazy if they didn't; Bungie doesn't seem lazy to me! Destiny will have weather I am sure of it, or hopeful at least!

I am hoping for some good rainstorms in the swamps of old Chicago..... If there is, I shall make it my Hunter's home.
-
This is one of the biggest things that I hope they include! It's easy to say that, "everything changed with the arrival of The Traveler," and leave it at that, but like you said, those little touches add something to a game.....or rather a world. Weather patterns give the perception that change is happening; that the persistent world in which we play continues, even when you're not around. I'd love to see seasons, rainstorms, snow accumulation, etc. The Tower is our home. It's the area we will likely spend the most time. If the weather always stays the same, it won't feel like we are a part of something larger than the disc in our drives. It won't give the sense of time and progression. Progress is always accompanied by change......The Tower should be too.

Thats alright i'll make it rain * guardian throws glimmer every where*
