Bungie never betrayed anyone, I don't need more console and datto, (who happen to love bungie, cause of E3) to know that. bungie did, however, made a bad call on marketing, they should've said that ps4 gets alpha and beta first before Christmas, that way, more people would've planned ahead and gotten ps4 and wouldn't whine about this.

Using games Call of Duty and The Division as an example of IPs that have timed exclusive content is ridiculous, and completely ignores the historical significance of this particular example. You'll notice people don't complain nearly as much about those games having such content, if at all. Now why do you suppose that is? Well, I'll tell you. It's because the developers for those titles didn't create a market on a particular platform. For this video to claim that the fact that Bungie developed exclusively for the Xbox is irrelevant shows a complete disregard to the historical significance of this problem as well. I don't know if this person is new to the community or what, but that is wholly disrespectful to make such a statement as that. Halo was THE Xbox game. It revolutionized the FPS genre in multiple ways, and cultivated a fanbase both around Halo and, more specifically, around Bungie. When Halo 3 released, it was on the Xbox 360. There were actually many people that followed Bungie to the console because they put out great products- not just people that followed Halo. Therefore, while switching to Playstation as a focus for their content, they are essentially forgetting about those people that followed them in the past, who developed a decade's worth of friendships and experiences on another platform largely due to Bungie. I've said this before and I'll say it again- nobody was complaining about Bungie including the Playstation with Destiny. Fans on the forums were actually PLEASED, because it meant Bungie was growing and would have a larger fanbase. The issue is that they aren't being treated equally- they're being treated BETTER. And after a decade of giving your all to Bungie as a fan of the company instead of the game, that is a very hard pill to swallow. Xbox fans were not asking for exclusive content because of their history with Bungie. Xbox fans were expecting equality. This video goes on to talk about how it is a good business decision. And from a money standpoint, it is... for Sony. And Activision. Not Bungie. And I don't understand how anybody could possibly say 'because it made them more money as a business decision, it is not a betrayal.' Excuse me? That's absolutely idiotic to say! Since when does profit determine morality? I'll tell you when: Since never. Insomniac games making games for Playstation then making an Xbone exclusive? Yeah, that sucks. But guess what? That doesn't suddenly make it acceptable or make it any less of a betrayal that a completely different company is doing nearly the same thing. Again, a really stupid thing to imply otherwise. Later, he goes on to say he would request Sunset Overdrive were only on playstation, but doesn't because he is a 'rational human being.' To which I reply... an ignorant one. This, my friends, is a classic example of somebody only hearing what they want to hear. You see, this user seems to be completely ignoring the fact that Xbox users are NOT asking that Destiny be exclusive to the Xbox One. They are NOT asking that they be given exclusive content instead. I'm wondering why people bought an XBone if they planned on playing Destiny. It [i]was[/i] shown at the Sony Press Conference in 2013. Sure, it's being released for XBone (and previous gen for some reason?) but I'm pretty sure they've come out and said that Destiny is prioritized for Playstation. If you were surprised that Playstation gets timed exclusives I'm amazed. Count your blessings that you're getting the game period and the exclusives are only timed. XBone still gets Halo, something I wish that would be on PS4 but isn't and I recognize that it won't. Do I love Halo despite this, yes. Do I want to play Halo so badly that I bought an XBone? No, and I'm not even mad. We all love games people, stop trying to cut each other's throats over it. This kind of infighting in communities so wonderful as Bungie's makes me want to leave the planet.

I can honestly feel Datto's frustration. I really can. The biggest problem with the video is that he let his anger get in the way of alot of his points. It seemed more like just lashing out than trying to explain a situation. I do think that Xbox fans should stop being so... Whats the word. Pushy? I understand why they feel the way they do, sort of. Ive been a Halo fan as long as anyone. But exclusive deals between publishers is nothing new in the games industry and we shouldn't expect fair treatment because of our past consumer history. Does it mean that its fair? No. Its not. I hate it. I really do. But if we are on the subject of exclusives and timed exclusives. I would say that we should stop making a big deal about Destiny's specific exclusive content and start criticizing every game that does this? Either way the content itself is not a big deal. We will be getting it eventually and the content that is out there is not necessary to the completion of the game. So I can personally wait.

Yes, people that have loved and supported Bungie for the past 13 years. Just deal with it. To all the fans that trusted Bungie enough to spend thousands on Xbox consoles since you were probably 13, how dare you feel 'betrayed.' Gee, you're so foolish to expect equality for loyalty Xbox players. Bungie and Activision probably can't see their fire exits 'cause the money in the way. The only thing I really got out of that video is that you think Xbox players should suffer because of Microsofts actions and that Bungie/Activision only really care about money.

I disagree that peoples' opinions are irrelevant. In fact, players' opinions are the *ONLY* thing that's relevant, and concerns over an uneven gameplay-experience are not only valid, but incredibly important. Most games are based around a simple concept; there is something you're supposed to do, and whomever does it better is the "winner". With video-games, and especially MMO's, the experiences have evolved to be even more competitive, and many players want to be on equal footing as every other player. The thing is, Publishers no longer *want* players to be on equal footing, because that isn't nearly as profitable; "completionists" and "hardcore competitive players" are where the money's at. Now, I don't think any of this was done with any malicious intent. The original Collector's Editions for games were there for fans to get a sneak-peak at the development process, which evolved into giving their greatest fans a little in-game goodie, and so on, and it just sort of spiraled out of control. The issue I take with stuff like this is that I think is sacrificed the integrity of what it means to even be a "game". At least, when it comes to "true exclusive" content. What I mean by that, is giving timed-priority on new content is perfectly fine, but I think beyond that, it starts to feel like exploitation. Of course, it entirely depends on context; no one faults a free-to-play game for having microtransactions, for example. Frankly, it's a deeply complex issue, with a lot of caveats. I don't think there's a single overarching "right way" to handle sectioning-off content in a game. All we can really ask is to be respected, as both consumers and as fans, regardless of platform.
