[Start the linked video at 1:06 to 2:22 in order to see what I am referring to] Please Ask Questions if you have them! First off, I just want to say how excited for destiny this video makes me. The well designed track, the beauty of the planet, and all the epic scarab drops cause me to wonder how much these kinds of things will be in Destiny. You guys are probably wondering why I am not talking about the Driving missions at the end of Halo 1 and 3. In this mission, the player has alot more choice about where he drives. he could even get out of his vehicle and fight if he wants to. Also, the terrain is natural and not artificial... or Forerunner-made (is there a word for that?). I'm not saying that this is a better mission, however. It just seemed more Destiny-ish. I have recently come up with two important (to me) questions about vehicles in Destiny. Question 1- Should there be driving missions in Destiny? We all know that sparrows are for getting around from place to place (or mission to mission) in Destiny. However, what if your vehicle was be the of the mission? I'm not talking about driving around, scouting, and then coming across a guardian in need of assistance. I'm talking about stuff like driving to return an item, stolen by the fallen during the collapse, to its rightful owner (or ancestor of the owner) while the fallen are attempting to kill you with their combat vehicles. I'm even talking about things similar to the warthog runs from Halo 1 and 3. Maybe "Escape this collapsing cave on the moon that is infested with Hive" or "Escape the half-destroyed Cabal ship" (if you can go on ships). Question 2- Should there be racing in Destiny? As you may know, racing was introduced as an official gametype in Reach. For the community, this was a gametype to make insane racetracks in the sky. For Bungie, this was a gametype to make the players race around their larger maps, seeing them from a new perspective. And those maps could be huge. What I am wondering about is an ability to challenge a passing guardian to a race. Now I know what you're thinking "Destiny is a shooter, not a racing game". That is a very true statement. However, Halo is also a shooter, not a racing game. However, I kid you not, I have spent more hours on reach racing than anything else. And don't worry about all the players racing instead of fighting for humanity. Most of you will probably be saving the human, awoken, and exo races (pun intended). Just think of the possibilities. You would race dangerously, possibly jumping over a canyon or passing through a sleeping enemy camp, waking them as you pass. There could be a system where the guardians choose the destination (a one way race) or specific local tracks that are already created by Bungie. Maybe even have the checkpoints set up by us using the mobile Bungie app. This Could be revolutionary interacting with players. Just think of challenging a fellow guardian to a friendly race after he just save your skin. This would be a great alternative to challenging a player a duel like in many of MMO games (Destiny definitely isn't MMO) because it adds to the spirit of friendliness. It will also allow players to see the game from a whole new perspective as they stop fighting to glide over the Hills of Russia. Last thing: take a look at these tracks by G0DS R3GR3T in Reach. Use your imagination. I know you have one! Just pretend that this is all terrain and not man-made structure and you will see. Tour De Forgeworld https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmt72s7dIwA Free Fall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xPKGsntsmk Because of all of this, I think that racing is destined for Destiny. Even if it's not added, I will still find a way to race...
Drifters don't follow the rules. We bend them! And then we drift around those bends!
-Drift King

Halo 1 you had way more path choices like you could go left or right with kind a little different results, or stay in the middle and speed to reach a higher ( and usually easier) road and if you didn't speed enough you'd fall on another path...
