I've had my cat, Summer, for just under two years, now. I got her for free from some people that found a box of kittens on the side of a dirt road in the country so she doesn't have any shots (I'm assuming).
For the past couple of months she's been peeing in random places like on a pile of news papers, on the carpet in the living room, in the basement (which is pretty much a concrete cellar) and just 20 minutes ago she peed on the coffee table in the living room.
My parents are heartless -blam!-s and want to simply abandon her the way her litter was abandoned when she was barely 2-3 months old. I, personally, think that is -blam!-ed up and don't think it's humane.
I read some things online saying she might have a urinary tract infection or she might be refusing to share the litter box with my other cat, Misiu, even though they've been fine with it until, presumably, now.
TL;DR
Cat is 2 years old, is peeing everywhere, was fine until recently, maybe urinary tract infection, I don't want to abandon her.

This is the most helpful I've seen the Flood in a long time. So helpful that I have nothing to add.
I guess the Flood is serious when it comes to pussy problems.
It's from space
honestly I don't know. Take it to the vet
Is she declawed?

A sudden change in a cat's urinary habits are most often caused by a urinary tract infection. Other causes you must also entertain is that poor litter conditions. Try replacing all the litter. and cleaning the box. Sometimes the issue isn't with the cleanliness of the box, but rather the location. The box may be in an undesirable location for the cat, such as in a high traffic area. The box may need to be moved. Something else I have recommended in the past for friends who have had cats who have had litter issues is to place a second litter box in the house. This will give the cat a choice of where to go and an second option if they find their first choice undesirable for whatever reason. The final issue may be that the cat feels threatened by something and feels the need to mark and defend its territory. Did you add a new animal to the cat's home? A new person? Is there a stray cat in your yard that may be stressing your cat?
-
Does the urine smell odd? Is there blood or cloudiness? Has the cat been spending extra time licking its nether regions? Move the litter box and show both cats the location, this upset should change their patterns of behavior, just be sure to take them to the box every few hours so they remember where it is.

Is there blood in the pee?

Sometimes cats piss all over the place when they're stressed about other cats. They're marking their territory. Are there any outdoor or feral cats in your neighborhood? I kind of doubt she's sick if she's been doing this for months.
-
Two of my four cats do this. I imagine it's due to stress. I know one of my cats is scared as shit of my mom, and the other is rejected by the other three. First, clean up wherever they've been peeing. If they smell piss, they're going to piss there. Second, make sure the litter box is clean. Cats won't go to a dirty box. And third, see if your cats are getting along. If they aren't, try to keep them apart when they eat/shit/piss, until they readjust to each other's scent.
-
I never really had that with my two cats. They poop everywhere though. Are there fluids coming from eyes or nose? Are they coughing or making weird noises? If not then they aren't sick. If they're not bleeding in their piss then there may not be an infection. I'd follow up on the cat being stressed.

It has rabies...

Sounds like urinary tract. I'd take her on over to the vet to get it checked out.

Edited by Hatima: 6/3/2014 2:35:28 AMBefore where did it usually pee? Sometimes if you move its litter box it will do that.
-
Take your cat to the vet. Problem solved.
-
All we can do is speculate dude. A vet is the best way to go. Has she been spade? Cause if she is about to go into heat she will start pissing to attract males.
-
Taking her to the vet would be a pretty good idea.
-
Maybe take the cat to a vet before you leap to any conclusions

Halp, guis.
