If you will indulge me, my hypothesis is that it should not make a big deal. The game and its data is held on the game disk, not the server. This means if there are no other players around you, then you game has no need to use large amounts of data. However, if you come across a public event, or a group of other players, you might experience lag. Also if your internet is so bad to the point that you sometimes lose connection to Xbox live or PSN, then you will probably become disconnected from the servers, so you might want to replace you internet/router in that situation.
