I have a twat ex that receives free school lunches because her family is poor. Yet for whatever reason, her family has two flat screen TV's, two cars and they just went to one of the more expensive restaurants in town.
In a nutshell, this is why our welfare system is broken. You shouldn't be able to have others pay for your food, simply to make it easier for you to do the things you like.

You sir, just became my favorite motherf*cking person in the world. It's nice finding someone that doesn't buy mainstream media bullshit. What Obama's doing is giving people inscentive not to work. WHy would you work your ass off to make money when you get twice as much from welfare? The more welfare you take, the more freedom you lose. Followed. *high fives*

I'll butter your biscuit. :3

Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/1/2014 12:50:34 PMAre they unemployed able bodied people that are capable of working but don't bother their backsides? If not, I suggest you tone down the knee jerk judgements OP. Owning TV's, vehicles and going to one expensive restaurant (it was probably an annual treat or something, I seriously doubt it's a regular occurrence) isn't a signature of wealth. We're not in the 50s anymore were having a refrigerator was indicative of being middle class. Oh yeah, and free lunches is probably at the low end of the welfare spectrum. I wouldn't even class it as welfare to be honest, more like absolutely minimal gov't assistance to alleviate the difficulties of feeding your children in a low income family.

All forms of entitlements and welfare are pretty -blam!-ed at the moment. Especially pensions and property programmes. >is British.
-
That's not a good example
-
Hey, not cool. My family relied on aid for awhile, else we would have starved. We're better off now, though. But, I've seen my fair share of welfare leeching. We were denied access to housing when we were homeless, yet I saw some guy in a fancy car pull into the complex and walk into his apartment. People who are in actual need are denied services because of all of the scammers. Disgusting.

LOL Economy going down the drain and people defending those who send it down the drain. Classic humanity.

I thought "butters my biscuit" was a positive thing.

Edited by Frasier Crane: 5/1/2014 4:16:31 AMI'm pretty sure they could pay for their food if necessary. Take away the school lunches and their daughter isn't going to die. The point of it is to provide assistance so they can ideally start saving and get out of financial bedrock. Just because a family have a couple of cars and a flatscreen doesn't mean they aren't scraping to get by on a week-by-week basis.
-
So basically you're bitter that she broke up with you and you're finding reasons to bash her online rather than actually confronting her.
-
Wealth isn't determined by what you have, it's about how much money you make annually, I doubt you know much about this family's financial position; it's likely that they spent a long time saving money so they can buy luxuries, which is completely fair. Just because you don't make a lot of money doesn't mean you should live on the bare minimum without any luxuries. Congrats on being a condescending moron.
-
So they have two flatscreen TVs, find me a family who doesn't. That's like saying they have a microwave and a freezer-fridge. Ooooh the lap of luxury. Two cars, to get to two jobs? Perhaps not the most economical but pretty much the norm for large families. And they went to a fancy restaurant for someone's birthday or a celebration? It's not like they are living like the wolf of wall street of their free school dinners. If you want to find hyperbolic examples of people living on benefits then I'm sure you could do much better. Do you know how much that family would probably receive in all of their benefits, tax breaks or whatever? I doubt it's a huge amount. Then look at how much tax corporations like starbucks avoid paying. What do you think will save more money, making a family live in poverty or making the companies in the USA pay their fair share of taxes? (And the UK, we have the same problem - Usually from bloody American Companies used to running roughshod over the law because of their lobbyists)
-
Agreed. While I generally am supportive of welfare, it annoys me when people take advantage of it. They need to make the requirements more stringent while also ensuring that those who genuinely need assistance can get it.

Hopefully I can abuse the welfare system later on in life. So I can continue being lazy as f.uck.

Edited by Wonderbread: 5/1/2014 6:46:58 AMIts 2014 and people still think owning 2 cars and 2 flat screen TV's is a luxury poor people can only afford by "cheating the system". You can't be serious lol
You shouldn't be able to have others pay for your food, simply to make it easier for you to do the things you like.
I don't know about anyone else, but I quite enjoy not starving to death.

I've seen people like that They absolutely need the most expensive shit and then wonder why they have no money

My family is lower middle class. Every winter, my uncle gives us a big ham, and some winters we had to have slices of ham every day for lunch and dinner because we couldn't afford the food. I have had present-less Christmas's and I have never owned quality brand clothing. I remember my friend in grade school used to always tell me I wasn't poor because my family owned an Xbox 360. What he didn't get, was that we were able to scrape together money for things like that when money was flowing, but it didn't mean we weren't in a bad financial situation. Things can go up or down. We have to pay thousands of dollars a month because of my dad's cancer treatments, and yet we have bought two cars in the past year because it has been a necessity for us kids to get to our college classes and our jobs. It doesn't mean we aren't struggling with money, it just means that at times we have been able to afford luxury items to make us kids happy. You just don't understand. Let me guess, you wear pastel shorts and shirts, own Sperry's, have friends who like lacrosse, and own multiple consoles from one generation. Because only the privileged seem to have some idea that either you live in your own shit or you live in a nice big house with money flowing.

OP hates poor people and wants children from poor families to suffer for no reason. I assume you're Republican.
