I just realised how much I want to be able to explore in this game. When I think of the jungles of Earth and Venus, I want to be able to walk through them. I want to take cover in the foliage as the rain drips down through the green canopy above me. I want to hear the sounds of the trees and birds and insects around me.
Then there's Mars. I want to walk the desert lands of Mars, trying to find the entrance of vaults and the gates of forgotten cities. I want to be able to see next to nothing in a blinding sandstorm as a march across with little more than a beacon on my HUD to guide me.
On Europa I want the blizzards and ice shelves to crash around me. I want the sky to grow dark and be filled with its gas giant as it moves out of sight from the Sun. I want to trek through snow that comes up to my chest as the stars in the sky blend in with snowflakes.
Am I asking for a lot? Yes. Am I asking for too much? Maybe, but this is my favourite part. This is what we did after the Darkness ended. We didn't care about consoles and fireteams and clans, only about what the game could be.
Would you like something like this? What do you want from this game's worlds. Not gameplay, customisation, or anything like that. What do you want from the solar system. Deep caves with hidden waterfalls? High peaks with snowcaps? Wildlife? A barren wasteland or two?
Ad astra.

Yes. Yes. Why can't I like this harder. Yes.

Man, I may be locked in an eternal struggle with you, but you just spoke my mind.

What day is the Destiny portion of GDC, and where can I watch it live?

I want to battle the Cabal during the middle of a sandstorm. Hardly able to see anything, and then a massive hulking creature bent in my death steps out of the blinding storm. Nova Bomb, headshot, back into the sand searching for the next one. Eventually I attract too much attention, and now I'm just searching for a way out, or for a Titan to draw some fire away from my squishy trench coat.

Edited by DEZARATH: 3/19/2014 1:23:48 AMEverything in the OP is fantastic. I just wish I could have sat in my ship and have floated over Earth like we did in Reach. Just taking in the Milkyway while some orbital golden age space city hovered in the distance beckoning with dread and adventure. Turning my ship I lightly tap my engines and drift towards it lining up with the docking bay while two other players do the same. I don't know them, but we all took the same mission back at the Tower and we are going in. Dammit I so wish we had some sort of manual space flight.

I'd really like for some sort of Tomb Raider (2013) esque exploration. That game made tomb raiding secondary, if not completely optional, which made discovering dark treacherous tombs all the more enjoyable and all the more rewarding; even more immersive. Nailed it on the head completely. If Bungie added completely optional areas to explore, just for the sake of exploring, it'd be a good day.
You and your trusted guardians see in the distance, a dark gorge seemingly carved into a mountain, looming menacingly over the land. Your objective is relatively close, almost complete even, but this mysterious black gash in the towering rock wall beckons you and your allies... You look at each other and nod in silent agreement, summoning your Shrikes. The journey is long, but you ride. The darkened tear in the rock surface grows nearer and the environment around you starts to fade and become desolate, nothing but shriveled flora and ancient rocks. Fog surrounds your fireteam, and the gorge reaches far into the sky; a colossal crack in the mountain. At the base of the mountain's maw, you look forward into the darkness. What lies beyond is unknown, but not for long...
I want to explore that old ship like the one in mass effect 2 but probably more mysterious

Edited by Ilogical Logic: 3/23/2014 2:53:31 PMIf you're asking what I want then ... -Underground cities hinting that this is a place where humanity tried to hide -I want abilities to be found, I don't want all of them to be given too me after I rank up a bit. -I want to fight enemies riding on moving platforms. -I want there to be traps. -I want to see the aliens just lurking around in the wilderness, like a group of fallen riding right past me as they ride of theer pikes -I don't want there to be a waypoint for everything like in other games. If my mission is to find something in a certain area, there shouldn't be an arrow pointing right above it. -I want to be able to look around the city and not be stuck in the tower. -I want to be able to forge maps so I can play custom games with other players, because that's what made halo amazing. things like that

Edited by PsychoPineapple: 3/24/2014 7:52:02 PMExploration is probably the thing in Destiny that I am most looking forward to! Not scripted exploration, mind you, but exploration in its purest form. The rush of finding something no one else has found, the exhilaration of being somewhere no one has ever been before. That is what I want most, and I think it would catapult Destiny from a good game to something truly legendary and immersive.

Explorers be like:
What this weapon doing here?
-
I want there to find fortresses and battalions on Mars, enemy outposts and ambush on Venus, Multiple skirmishes of all kinds on Earth. Meteor showers on the moon.
-
Everywhere I go, it's a beaten path. If you know what I'm sayin'.
-
Lava waterfalls and the darkside. Spelunking desert caves. I want to retreat into the woods with my fireteam to set an ambush. I want to be the silent veteran with the badass gear that all the younglings aspire to emulate.
-
I'd love to use the environment To my advantage.. take out enemies one by one in a sandstorm then fade away.. you can either choose to slip by them amid the blowing snow, or engage them in whatever way you see fit.
-
Realistic foliage. My number one desire in any jungle setting. Bushes for concealment, trunks for cover. God yes.
-
Damn straight it should be like this
-
I want abilities to be found throughout the world in special dungeons that emulate that ability and at the end of clearing that dungeon you absorb the ability
-
Dang that was pretty deep. I would've just said, "I want to explore."
-
I feel you bro. I want this game to be crazy realistic
-
DANG!!! Will you please write a book!?
-
I can not wait to hear how the world of destiny sounds through my 7.1 surround.
