Cortana first emerged after a Microsoft employee lost a phone running Windows Phone 8.1 last year. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s Windows Phone work have revealed to The Verge that Cortana will replace the built-in Bing search feature, which is currently launched through a dedicated hardware key, and acts as a digital assistant with a mix of Siri and Google Now functionality. We’re told that Cortana will take the form of a circular animated icon with the hue of your selected Windows Phone accent color, and will have a personality not dissimilar from Apple’s Siri. Cortana will animate when it’s speaking or thinking, and bounce around or frown with "emotion" depending on the queries involved. Cortana will be backed by data from services like Bing, Foursquare, and others to give it some of the contextual power of Google Now.
This is cool, but I still don't want a Windows phone.

Chief: Cortana, check my Facebook. Cortana: She hasn't responded to you, Chief. You should really just move on. Chief: Damnit! Alright, fine. Call mom. Cortana: You know I can't do that. Chief: Of course you can! Cortana: Not without being decommissioned.

Eh, it's cool, but it's not going to make me buy a WP

See, I just can't see myself getting a windows phone over an android. I have an iPod and I want to try something new, but do windows phones even have a Bungie app?

Yup, think I'm going back to Nokia next phone. Android OS on the platforms I like just keep getting more and more bloatware... and I don't want to be forced into having five separate accounts in order to run all services. If 8.1 means scalable apps on different platforms, then it's a done deal.

lolWindows Phone Android master race.

As cool as this could be... I'll stick with my iPhone

Who's going to voice it?
