Best midnight premieres you've been to?

So my buddies and I brought a big TV, a generator, Halo games, and a bunch of food. We basically hosted a tourney right in front of game-stop.

  • Halo 4 We had a 1v1 tourney on Haven and I won. The best part is, I'm not even a really competitive player, yet I beat my game battles buddy. Even better yet, I beat him in the final game of the tourney which rapped up about 5 minutes before midnight. All in all, it was a pretty special night. My least favorite midnight launch was Gears of War 3. My hardcore Gears of War buddy is one of my least favorite friends. I hardly cared about going to get Gears at midnight, but I did kinda want to play it. My buddy wanted me to go so I went out at 8PM so we could be the first in line. I know, waiting in line is silly, but it doesn't really bother me. It's something to do when it's decent outside. The problem was, it eventually started raining around 8:30 and didn't stop the whole time we were their. It was also pretty chilly out. Like I said earlier, my gears buddy is basically my least favorite friend. He is a habitual complainer that literally complains for the sake of complaining. The whole time we were their he was complaining about how the game is going to be bad, how he hates the rain and cold, and how he's probably going to return his copy of the game within a day. I waited outside, in the pouring down rain, in cold temperatures, just because THAT friend wanted me to do it. Needless to say, our friendship has severely dwindled since that day.

  • My favorite and first one was the Halo 3 launch event in the mall. Line was so big it wrapped around the mall. I still kind of regret not going to the Bellevue launch event, due to the Bungie team being there, but I had school the next morning. :(

  • Halo Reach, Halo 4. Black Ops 2, Ghosts. Halo reach was by far my favorite.

At the Halo Anniversary / Assassin Creed (not sure which one) midnight launch, my local Gamestop let everyone inside at 10pm to play the games and eat pizza until midnight. My friend and I were the only ones there for Halo Anniversary so we got to have the game all to ourselves. I forget how far we got in two hours but I remember starting AOTCR.

  • Never been to one, never will. It's pointless. Why wait outside at night when I can be in bed all nice and warm and then have it delivered to me in the morning?

Also Judgements was hilarious about 5 people showed up for it got their game and walked out it literally took 5 minutes.

    • Every midnight release I've been to, I've shown up at like 12:30 or so and waited about five minutes.

      • I went to the Mass Effect 3 launch with a friend. Only launch I've ever been to. It was okay, but as someone who had only recently become a fan, I wasn't able to get involved with the trivia they were doing. There was also a hell of a lot of promotion for some energy drink. Location matters too I guess- eastern Iowa doesn't exactly warrant grand launch parties.

      • I've been to: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Skyrim Xbox One Halo 4 (I think) They were all pretty boring actually. In my opinion a midnight release really isn't worth going to at this point except for getting them game slightly faster.

      • Midnight releases suck. After x1, and PS4 midnight releases NEVER AGAIN. Standing in line and hearing actual fanboys bicker in real life about "xbone sucks hahahha" or "indiestation hahahaah" I felt like I was developing brain cancer.

      • The Xbone midnight release was fun. Now that Digital day one downloads are a thing, I won't be going anymore.

Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Skyrim Halo 3 was the most fun. I would've gone to the ODST one but I had bronchitis. Ain't nobody got time for that.

        • I only went to the ODST one, and I'll never do it again. There is absolutely no point. There was no special anything. Jus ta line and people showed up at 11:59, got in line, got their game and left withing 10 minutes of anyone else who had been there for hours. That and releases being on a weeknight just makes it all the more of a no-go. I'm on board with digital DL's now so I'll likely never even think about this again.

Skyrim. I had worn an Anthony Carmine costume made out of cardboard and duct tape to the Gears Of War 3 launch http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h353/chark19/CarmineArmor91611.png , so I whipped up a DragonBorn helmet and chest piece, decorative pauldron, and gauntlets for Skyrim. http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h353/chark19/SKYRIM.pngThe gamestop manager handed me a GS giftcard! :) There was also pizza! I made a few other costumes, all pathetic cardboard and duct tape, but still impressed some people.

          • None I've got better things to do than stand outside in the bitter cold waiting in line to buy a game I probably won't play until later on that day anyway. Might as well just order it from Amazon or pick it up in the afternoon

Well, I drove past Gamestop at midnight once for the Halo 4 launch, and there was a massive line out the door. I live in a small town, so I thought "WTF?". Then, I realized that the line wasn't really that long, there were just a lot of fat kids taking up space in line making it look bigger. Still didn't go, though.
