Okay, everybody clicked on this thread hoping to read an idea that will boost their excitement for Destiny, so that is what I will present to you
It will be an amazing feature if your Guardians armor, clothes and weapons start to crack, rip and develop scratches on them as you use them overtime. For example, its September 9th and everybody sets off on their journey, you find a nice combination of armor, clothes and weapons and you put them on and go on with your adventure fighting a number of PvE and PvP battles.
Your good at protecting your head because you know how to move but you are not so good at protecting your body. Overtime you will start to see the armor on your body start to have cracks and scratches on it and etc. You get the point right?
This will not affect gameplay at all for it is only an appearance purpose to show that you have been putting in hard work and you have been through hell and back, also the process of getting the damaged look is slow but not too slow. You have to play several games and get into several battles to even start noticing little scratch marks so it wont be a hassle or a chore to repair/renew your equipment; it wont bother you every 5 minutes or so. Your equipment will not break or fall off because, like I said, this is only for appearance purposes only. You can pay a small amount of glimmers to renew/repair your armor to make it look new again, or you can leave it to make yourself look more badass (like having a ripped up cape for your hunter). Also, you can repair each equipment separately, so you can decide to fix you helmet but leave your cape ripped up. Bungie said Destiny is about telling your story and where you have been and what you have been through, so I don't seen any reason they wouldn't add this feature. Comment below and tell me what you guys think. Keep this thread live so comment below!

Edited by DidacticRhetoric: 11/16/2014 12:38:46 AMWith so many other REAL issues that plague this game, cosmetic upgrades are hardly a priority. This would require so much work, not to mention the cost involved-- designers, animators, etc would need to be called in again to do this work. Do you know how much time and work goes into just animating articles of clothes to move naturally with the wind, movement, and so on? Often times, developers do not even bother with it.

at least we will have something to spend the glimmer on now being maxed out all the time does get a lil old
-
Still trying to get them to add this simple idea and they have had said nothing, yet I doubt they will go out of their way to add damage looks. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/77938365/0/0/1

brilliant
-
I like this idea. Kinda like the degrade system in fallout where over use will render an equipment useless. Might be complicated though.
-
Amazing broooo
-
Awesome Idea! Hope this one gets added!!!
-
Sick idea man.
-
It's so simple bungie won't add it in
-
Sounds cool but I think it should be optional like you would be able to turn it off in the settings or something like that
-
Only if you can get so damaged that you end up completely naked.
-
this will never happen
-
Sounds awesome.
-
Cool concept, too hard to implement though!
-
You know what would be better? A shooting range in the tower to test out your guns
-
I love this ifea
-
perhaps another option would be grudge matches. someone teabag you in matchmaking challenge them to one on one, contest include any of the crucible type pvp or sniping contest. races, or crowd control where you kill as many enemies in the set time. sorry to go of topic realistic battle damage would be awesome after all the hunter in the guardians tower has a ripped up cape

Edited by X 5I5O: 9/9/2014 3:48:51 AMSure. Why not. But BEARDS MUST BE COME FIRST! xD>
-
good idea if you can "repair" the look. i dont want to grind months for epic looking armor and got cracks in it forever after 2 days
-
Awesome! Mother chuffing effing huge mother-blam!-ing BUMP
-
Sounds cool. Maybe an option to turn it on and off would be good for people who don't like it.
-
I don't like this idea...if I want a tattered, worn look I'll equip armor that has that specific look.
-
You my friend are a simple yet awesome person. i hope they see this and add it in the game some time.
-
So in other words just blatantly copy that feature from the Batman Arkham Series?
-
Fact 1) I never really observed the standard Titan Mark, but later I tried my best to look at other Titans' Fact 2) After I killed the ogre in the grotto, my Titan Mark was ripped and bloody Fact 3) I don't really know if the two things are related, or if it was always that way Fact 4) I saw other Titan's with the same type of Mark, but nobody elses' had the same effect, ripped/bloody

I think it's already implemented. In the Beta, I bought some sweet Titan armor. A couple of Fallen Captains later, I noticed my shoulder pads had some scratches whilst I went back to the tower.
