Maybe, just maybe, Bungie has had .000001 (Forgot about Oni even though I own it, thanks to ScottOnSheppy) presence on Sony platforms for 22 years and simply wants to show that they aren't just throwing an xbox port at the PS3/4 and are truly committed to giving every console gamer a (historically proven) great Bungie experience.
It's called market expansion.
You were once only providing your product in one location and you became very popular. You now have an opportunity to expand and serve the demand for your product. You will OBVIOUSLY strive to penetrate the new market as best as you can so you can have a successful expansion by providing more talking points, information and coupons for a free appetizer so more people will try you out.
They aren't giving the middle finger to xbox users. We are the good friends at the party that will hold it down while the host goes to greet the first time visitors.
How about instead of bitching about not being FIRST, you share with the Sony die-hards who ignored Halo and don't know how great Bungie games are.

I think they could have put out a better video of the game with the announcement. They should have hit everyone with another e3 demo along side the early access reveal of the beta for Sony. No one would've have cared about the early access over a ten minute jaunt into the moon base and video commentary of game play. If anything that would have bonded both sides because no matter what everyone just wants to play the damn thing.
