Will the chapter-based story telling limit our exploration of the Destiny world?

I'm wondering if the story telling in Destiny will be episode based. By episode based I mean like for example: I finished the first chapter in Destinys story, so I play multiplayer while the next episode is released. When the next episode arrives, will the world be different? Will I be limited to the boundaries of the current episode? Or will it be completely free roamed, similar to adding DLC to skyrim or Fallout? Edit: I'm basically questioning their claim to be a free roam game. I mean, if we were able to explore all we wanted within a chapter, only to clear that chapter and be able to explore the next chapter but not being able to go back to the map of the chapter before, it would'nt be a true free roam title.

  • You've made two assumptions. Destiny is not an open-world/free roam game. You cannot find me a source that says otherwise because there are none. It's mission based. I assume we'll have a large amount of freedom in choosing which mission to go on like in the Mass Effect series, and that levels will be large, but they will still be linear experiences as shown by the Old Russia demo. What has been confirmed is that after you finish a mission, you can go back at any time with your buddies and replay it. In that way, you can help your friends score some awesome loot, etc. Second assumption: Bungie has never said Destiny would be produced in an episodic format. I think we're pretty safe to assume the opposite unless Bungie specifically says otherwise.
