Here is a summary of the juicy stuff from the podcast:
[pardon ze grammers, I wrote it while listening]
*pretty intro music*
The 31st century is mentioned, probably in jest.
You will be looting/wielding enemy weapons.
Duke .44 is standard weapon, it’s not that rare. But it still has a unique feel to it.
The city was going to have bazaars filled with weapon craftsmen, but they still want that feel to be there even though they removed a lot of that idea.
Each weapon will be unique, even though there are variants each will be it’s own thing.
“Hero animations” confirmed.
The age of the weapons you find gives a sense of depth.
You will have machined-factory style weapons alongside rocket launchers engraved with wolves, and other “crazy shit.”
‘The Last Word’ is a western-style gunslinger pistol. It will make you feel like you are 7. Thorn is the exact opposite of it.
Inspiration was taken from “everywhere” for weapon design, you will find things that remind you of weapons from other games and movies.
Dune artwork and imagery was a source of inspiration.
PvP exclusive weapons. (can only be obtained in PvP)
*more pretty music*
DeeJ wants to fondle his weapons.
The ‘two weapon’ system from Halo is GONE! You can now have 3 weapons active, but you can, currently, have 2 secondary weapons, you will just have to add them to your active weapons from your inventory.
DeeJ has special moments with his weapons.
Ammo is not infinite, at least for large weapons.
Fusion Rifle is confirmed, though it seems to be a nickname.
ViDoc is pronounced V-Eye-Doc, I didn’t know that!
To keep people from just digging into their inventory and pulling out the perfect weapon each time, you will have to find ammo, in the current build you will not get your “heavy” ammo back after death.
Ammo is divided into 3 categories “primary, special, heavy.”
Ammo crates confirmed.
*Closes with sad, wonderful cello and violin music, sounds like ODST once the percussion kicks in*
*final seconds filled with some silly dialogue*
"Auto Rifles, Scout Rifles, and Pulse Rifles confirmed as primary weapons." - thanks to KingGuerrilla55

Fondle you say? lol

Edited by FairlySplendid: 9/25/2013 1:11:42 PMI will now INCEPT this topic and offer an even more condensed summary: - "Thorn" and "The Last Word".... Ying and Yang, baby. - Notable weapons are being individually crafted, not mass produced. - Also, certain weapons can only be earned in competitive multiplayer and vice versa. - Tell me more about The Hardlight. - You can change loadouts mid-fight, however Bungie will discourage you and make it cumbersome. - Limited ammo. Ammo-count only resets on Primary weapons. You drop your ammo when you die. - Ammo divided into three categories, just like the weapon slots. - Hand Cannon = "Jason Jones" cannon of Halo's past.
-
I heard them say that we can "take weapons from our enemies cold dead hands" but I think you took it out of context. From what I gathered they were just talking about loot drops not the actual enemy weapons.
-
I think it's really big that they've replaced weapon spawns with ammo spawns, it combines my hatred for killstreak rewards with my love for scarcity of ammo. Now, instead of leaving the power weapons for the players who are good with them, I will bring my own power weapons, which I spent hours training with. Even if this system does not catch on, it has changed the shooter genre forever.
-
I too hope to have a close, intimate relationship with my weapons.
-
Now that I hear them say Dune, I see it more now in the armor with enclosed helmets and respirators. It definitely is a recognizable trait in a lot of the design. Pretty cool.

Something Something Good Guy Progo
-
So looting enemy weapons? How the heck will we even be able to pick up one of the cabals' guns?
-
Just got home! *listens whilst drinking a fine cold coffee beverage*
-
Mm. Fondle.

Edited by It Resolves: 9/25/2013 2:07:02 AMAlso Auto Rifles, Scout Rifles, and Pulse Rifles confirmed as primary weapons. Auto Rifles = Fully automatic weapon, reminds me of Halo Assault Rifle. Scout Rifles = Semi-auto single shot weapon, reminds me of DMR. Pulse Rifles = Burst firing weapon, reminds me of BR.

I'm currently listening to it right now.
