UK National Service Bill 2013-14

Yep, they're really trying to bring this broken system back. For those not in the know National Service, a few decades back, was a system that conscripted young people into a year of forced service, under the guise of defense of the realm, this meant young people being forced into armed conflicts. Conservative MPs have been claiming that the end of national service heralded the coming of the youth of today who they see as devil-spawn because they aren't the youth of the 50's. So it's back, this time it claims to give the conscripted options but that's simply a decoy, poor families will not be able to support a young person who's too busy with National Service to bring in a wage, so it's only the richer families who will able to avoid sending their child into the armed forces. So who's sponsoring this? Only Philip Hollobone, who voted against equal gay rights, for raising tuition fees to £9,000 a year, for increasing VAT, for a stricter asylum system and against EU integration. Yeah. Not exactly adverse to immoral decisions to benefit himself. Now, odds are this won't get passed, even Hollobone himself admits that, but there needs to be an outcry about this to ensure no one tries this again, you can sign this petition to ensure the government shoots this thing down. TL;DR: The UK government is still evil. P.S. I realise last time I posted about UK politics the people of the USA were quick to say they didn't care as it didn't affect them, maybe it will and maybe it won't but, at least it'll give you an idea of what a corrupt government actually does.
