Survivors of Darkness - B.net Up-Keep

I'm by no means a legend here on B.net but I have been waiting for Destiny in the darkness for quite some time. With all the new faces -and therefore many more threads/comments- I am quickly becoming annoyed at the shallowness of threads and the meaningless trolling that I'm starting to see.
But then I remembered the changes that were made to this site, and how the web team has made a concerted effort to put the power in our hands. If you call B.net home like I do, [u]we have to start (or continue) to monitor this place carefully[/u]. Even without having a moderator title, it is our responsibility to be actively pointing people in the right directions, reporting threads with integrity, and muting people rather than just negatively engaging them (at least trolls).
B.net didn't become this way because of one or two good mods, but because of a community of people who cared about good games and good relationships. Let's do everything we can to keep B.net what it was meant to be.

1 ReplyI recall all the stuff that happened on old B.net. As our Ninja guardians struck down Mythic s and Newbs alike. Who broke the rules repeatedly. The Age of #Dragons. But i agree. I never put up with the trolling. These days i see Console War threads popping out of the ground like a undead legion. I am no champion but i would like to visit B.net town with out undead crawling into my bed and towns folks screaming in panic. Some times i want to shut my self up into a Fanfic and never come out. Yet so many cool people to talk to here. But having a unofficial conduct code and expecting people to try to be decent is quite reasonable. I am glad the Flood did get nuked. Off Topic is a not so bad just some topics sweep you into the river of filth and slime from all the Political and Religious topics. Now back to dreaming about Destiny again.-Commander.

I've been on B.net sporadically through the last 7 years, and you're pretty much describing my impression of B.net, not just now, but the way it has been for the most part. There's always more activity around, and for some time after launch. The Halo games has been my favourite multiplayer games for a long time, and for that reason I've been coming back to B.net. And even though there has been some good and great content and discussions going on, I've more often felt that the community has been too immature. I support your cause, I definitely do, and I hope something changes. I would visit this site more than sporadically if the community was different from what I've seen. I just wanted to point out that what you have noticed may not be new to the comunity.

The community always makes a comeback once a new game is released. For now though since there's just snippets of Destiny material to discuss and a tiny fraction still playing Bungie developed games online, there isn't much to talk about. So naturally we'll occupy our time with shallow threads. Expecting us all to have a bnet community hard-on at this point in the game is silly.
