So we all have fond (or painful) memories of crafting in rpg games. A noticeable trend in those crafting schemes is grinding. I don't mean how you obtain the resources, but rather how many items you need to craft to skill-up so you can make that new weapon you want (ie. grinding leather gauntlets in Skyrim).
I think Destiny should make crafting a big deal, but without making grinding necessary, simply limit the powerful gear by the ingredients, not by creating a skill requirement.

Am I the only one that wouldnt mind a bit of grinding?. Given Bungie's preference to stretch ranking systems out for hideous amounts of time, I deffinately think we'll see some brutal tier system to seperate the men from the boys.
-
I'd be pissed if i had to do the same dungeon 20 times in a row just to get 3 out of 20 pieces of material that i need to get cool armor. I wouldn't mind if there was crafting, but I don't think that it should give you high level armor. I think people should only be able to craft medium level armor. I didn't like how in skyrim you don't get the best weapons and armor through some epic quest. When your a high level character you can just make some OP armor/ weapon and your good to go.

There should definitely be hundreds of weapons and lower Tier ones should look rusted and tied together with string and the higher ones should look professional and sleek. Also I honk you should be able to name your guns.

The day a game does this it will be a miracle. Having everything available at the start would give it a more open feeling rather than a linear level path you must follow. Yes, you can make the strongest weapon at level one but good luck trying to get the ingredients when you probably have to kill the hardest enemies in the game. Hopefully they do this.

Agreed. I really appreciated Skyrim venturing out and trying something different, but crafting was a cheesefest. Making the elements of crafting more rare and scaling down the "only 5000 more daggers to go!" element would be good. ...assuming there is crafting, of course.
-
Maybe not crafting guns but maybe craft attachments like rds and heavy barrel etc...
-
I would like to see something like what you proposed. No crafting skill but ingredients. Better ingredients make better weapons.

Edited by Fletchy: 6/1/2013 3:19:09 PMThis sounds great to me. I love the whole concept of open-world, ENDLESS amounts of different weapons, finds, gear, and such

Totally agreed. At least make it like the crafting system in monster honter

Edited by Obsric: 6/1/2013 4:59:22 AM...Why is everyone thinking about Destiny in terms of current MMO gameplay!?! Bungie have tried really hard to communicate that Destiny is not an MMO - I'm guessing the main reason for this is try to stop people assuming the game systems in Destiny will be the archaic current MMO systems.
-
I've actually always hated crafting.
-
The pro's make iron daggers in skyrim... Lol
-
I think the worst version of grinding was in Mass Effect2 when you had to scan planets....ughhh snorefest! But we don't know if this would be implemented in Destiny but if it is then i have faith in Bungie that it won't be a snorefest.
-
I completely agree. If certain ingredients were rarer than others, they could make it harder to craft certain items without needing a skill level.

Edited by SquattingTurtle: 5/31/2013 6:19:31 PMSkyrim got it right after the patch. The more valuable the item you make the more xp you get, However did they say that there was going to be crafting? What exactly is there to craft in a futuristic sci-fi world?
-
IF there's crafting at all it'll likely be Bioshock style where as long as you have the needed components you can make anything. possibly a fallout-esque blueprint system.
-
Those rats aren't going to kill themselves!
-
I still don't know how many iron daggers I made...
-
I was using my phone, pardon the errors.
-
well...to make stuff you have to gather the resources
-
I hope we will be able to craft and name our own weapons and then customize the bells and whistles and skin after. This might be too deep for an fps but I'd still like to see it anyway.
