should enemy A.I units cooperate if they encounter each other, for instance a Cabal working with a fallen (not sure how they would meet but hypothetically), or should they fight each other.

        • "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." This is what chiefly came to mind when I read the title. Cooperating A.I. Would definitely add an element of intrigue to Destiny itself, and would present a welcome challenge to us, the players. While they may be unfriendly and even hostile to eachother under normal circumstances, I could see, as you mentioned, the Cabal and the Fallen partnering up to defeat us, their common enemy. After that they could uneasily go their separate ways to fight another day, were they to survive such an encounter that is. There is, as many others have pointed out, another way this could play out as well. The players could run upon a battle between Cabal and Fallen forces and, after assisting one force or the other, could gain certain benefits from the surviving group. Either that, or everyone could simply tear eachother to pieces in a three-pronged free-for-all. I think the lattermost option would prove the more enjoyable, but that's just me.

          • I don't want to see them cooperating. I like the idea of getting in the middle of a huge Cabal Fallen battle and deciding which one you want to help or if you want to attack both. Having them working together is too much like the covenant to me which is awesome but a little stale.

I dont want to see another Covenant. Been there, killed that. 5 times (7 counting anniversary and halo wars). I think the best way would be some kind of a dynamic system where different groups have different levels of hostility towards guardians, and that its possible that if you help a group of initially low-hostility cabal fight off a hostile fallen raid, they might even be willing to trade with you after, but had you attacked them as well you might have had both of them align against you. Or perhaps even something a bit simpler and easier to program, so long as its not static and predictable. I just don't want it to be like almost every other game out there where you can simply assume that if it's not green and it moves its hostile.

          • I say it needs to depend on the sitiuation. For example you'r in the middle of a fire fight with a fallen tribe and some vex pop right on in. You have to decide which is the more pressing to kill, and if the fallen tribe agrees and you sstrike up a mutual peace til the vex is gone and then go back to fighting one another. Then a cabal comes in and you decide the cabal needs to be taken care of over the fallen tribe but instead your over taken by the fallen tribe and cabal. Hope that made sense to people.

                • I kinda hope each enemy Race stays unaligned with each other. I mean Bungie just got done with Halo, where each enemy race was part of the Covenant. It would just put too much of a Covenant vibe into the game if they were forming alliances with each other. Each race having their own goals and intentions in mind makes them each feel more in depth and intimidating in their own unique way.

                  • I think it would be really neat to see the AI's themselves choose their own alliances over time. Maybe for the first month of launch the Vex and Fallen could be super good bros, but also as the game progresses on with its life span those two would split apart and bond new alliances, and maybe even rivalries. I feel like this would really support the idea of Destiny being a "living breathing world." I mean, who wouldn't want to be plowing through the sand dunes of Mars on a stolen Pike, only to catch some most excellent air off of a jump and land into an encounter of some Cabal putting the hurt on some Fallen invaders? Pretty unforgettable stuff right there.
Cabal (Space Tanks): Willing to work with Fallen or Vex. Fallen(Space Pirates): Willing to work with Cabal or Vex. Vex (Space Robots who can Time Travel Because -Blam!- you that's why.): I could see them easily allying with anyone but the Glimmer. Hive (Space Zombies): Perhaps a temporary alliance with the other groups (Minus the Glimmer) if in a dire situation, but a good chance of a back stab. Generally avoided by the other groups, except the Glimmer. Glimmer (Magical Space Zombies): HOLY -Blam!- EVERYONE RUN.
This is my take on inter-bad guy relations. I'm interested to see how Bungie does it though.

If I recall correctly there have been "mentionings" of the Fallen being a nomadic race, tribal even, and when taking into consideration the entire tribal concept I like to imagine that particular tribes of Fallen would even fight among themselves -- depending on the situation. I also see the Hive as being enemies to all living beings as is the theme of most zombies; i'm sure the goals of "space zombies" are quite similar. I remember in Halo 3 when one of the most exciting moments was: Elites fighting alongside Humans to kill the Covenant and the Flood on "the Ark" mission (I think it was). Switch roles with the alien species in Destiny and it sounds like just as much of a memorable event.

                          • Depends really. I don't see the Hive banding together with the fallen, Cabal or Vex. I see the hive as pretty mindless agressors. They'll attack anything they see that isn't hive. Think zombie. (Because they are known as space zombies) They could be a virus that only wants to spread. But, then again... I don't think that is what they are. I see them more as insects. Being controlled by a hierarchy. So you have the mindless attack drones, but then possibilty a smarter one giving the orders. As for the Vex, I don't see them pairing up with anybody. I don't see a hierarchy within the Vex either. Just a bunch of robots, perhaps bigger robots that are harder to kill, but they have the same directive as any of the smaller ones. I think the Vex will kill anything that they deem a threat. (This goes into my theory on where the Vex came from, which is the future.. I think their master is The Traveler, and they went looking for him when he disappeared, and they found him hovering over the last city, half destroyed, where you, the guardians are, so I think the Vex want to kill you for that reason) The Fallen and Cabal however are free thinking. Which means they can pair up with each other if it's mutually beneficial.

                            • I'm not sure how the alien factions interact with each other yet so this is entirely possible. If they're at odds, oh yes they should fight each other. One of the most irritating things in all gaming occurs when two enemy AI are fighting, you enter the room, then they both start pecking at you like emaciated chickens on a feedlot while completely ignoring each other. I guess it depends on if Bungie makes alien alliances.

                            • I like the idea of stumbling onto battles between other races, everyone being allied against humanity seems too... One dimensional.

                              • No, one of my favorite things in games such as assassin's creed revelations is how you can lure one enemy into another and once they killed each other you can loot them now that may not be the greatest for you who like the forward assault but I like more stealth stuff and I think that would fit a game like this better than just getting along unless one is a slave to the other like the grunts to the elites or brutes but notice how the Elites and brutes didn't get along at all and the reason the Elites got along with the prophets was because they offered them a high spot in the covenant until the brutes replaced them

                              • It should all depend on the relationship between the factions. For instance, if the Cabal are enemies of both your faction and the Fallen, then it will be every man for himself. However, if they're on good terms with a faction, they'll side with them to take out the other.

No; not all of them at least. Just because they're aliens doesn't mean they all have to be working together. Just imagine engaging some Fallen scouts in a firefight, then having some Vex show up from a time portal (they do that, right?) and just rain fire on the both of you. Both you and the Fallen would engage them, making a unique experience of organically fighting along side the enemy.

Combat can make for strange bedfellows, as we saw in the Halo series. I look forward to having some awkward battles where I team up with an enemy to fight something that threatens both of us, even if our cooperation is momentary. But these sorts of cooperative efforts could differ in tons of ways, depending on each race's strength at that time/place. It'd be cool.

                                      • It depends what you mean by working together. I believe the Fallen and Cabal are friendly with each other, so yes, I'd like the AI to work together if they happen to by allies. But that's not to say it should be the case for all AI's. Infighting is a cool game mechanic, and I'd like to see that in Destiny as well.

Particularly, being aligned with certain A.I. depending on what your faction is and/or certain enemies being aligned with each other, but not necessarily aligned with all of each other, e.g. Fallen and Hive vs. Cabal and Vex.
