It really confuses me. There are people on here who just act terrible. Their lack of basic human decency is comparable only to the greatness of their hypocrisy. They brag about achievements that they may or may not have actually gotten, and get angry when you question their accolades, even though their heavily veiled mass of nonsense that makes them appear intelligent, albeit an ass. My question is, what the H-E-Double Hockey Stick is wrong with these deviants? Why do they bother? What are they trying to prove?

Edited by Evilcam: 4/9/2013 4:44:24 AMI liked Craig Furgeson's take on it: People are not really any meaner. They just have the instant ability to be pricks. His rules: Does this need to be said? Does this need to be said by me? Does this need to be said by me, right now? Anonymity has a role to play for sure, but I think he is closer to why people are giant pricks, epistemologicaly. Even if we know who someone is IRL, and can do something about it, they can still be pricks, because they can vomit up whatever they're thinking immediately, instead of thinking it through.

People get to be themselves when they don't have a reputation attached to their made-up name. Sometimes people are assholes when they act like themselves.
-
I'm of the opinion that many people aren't very decent (to varying degrees) in the first place, and the internet simply exacerbates that aspect.
-
Because people suck man. People are evil. I propose an idea. Let's decimate the bad people.
-
Because most of the people here are dumb kids, and if they aren't kids then they are real retards.
-
If you think this is bad, you should check out the Battlelog forums...

I agree with you OP. The humans here are quite cruel towards one another, even me.

Anonymity emboldens some. Just like the possibility of a backhand across the jaw will make people silent.

they are completely anonymous, therefore can be a complete ass and no punishment is dealt out.

Because people on the internet aren't real. They're just text on a screen so it doesn't matter, k?
-
people are like that in real life; why should you expect differently online?
-
because it's the internetzzzz, being all anonymous and shiiitt.
-
Because -blam!- everybody, that's why.

Hm...am I one of these people of which you speak?
