Always on feature ( Xbox ) - what's the problem?
We are in 2013, not 1995.
What's the issue here, doesn't everyone have internet yet?

You bring your Xbox over to your friends house or to some location that doesn't have internet. Which means you can't use it. You bring your Xbox to a location that has internet, but there's no Wifi or a spot you can hock it up to the internet. Which means you can't use it. What are the benefits of having an always online console? There's no benefits at all to it.

You're punishing them.[/quote] The point is, no matter what you believe there are going to be limitations form a user standpoint rather than the currently options we have now of online/offline. There aren't any benefits to the consumer by forcing an always online connection. Does a PC, Mac, Smartphone, Wii U, Playstation, iPad, Tablet or any of those devices FORCE you be online? Nope. It's always optional. There is no benefit over a customer standpoint for a forced connection online. Rather, you're limited in your options available, while justifying a monthly fee if you want to play with your friends at all. If I want to go to a LAN party and play with friends offline, I have to pay to do that now - for a game I already bought.

What if my internet cuts out? No Xbox for me. Not everybody has a stable connection y'know.

I live in the south west suburbs of London, one of the more affluent areas in the UK. Nevertheless my internet is occasionally patchy and I also enjoy playing games without the lag induced by online play. Even with low latency reaction times are longer with online gaming. I also don't want to be taking up bandwidth when playing a game that would function perfectly well offline.

Sony's PS4 maybe ascending a lot more into the light. One of them, including me this time.
