Microsoft Has Single Handedly Destroyed Its Two Action Franchises

We already know what has become of Halo.
It's also ironic that two franchises were destroyed by decisions in the multiplayer side of things. Both Judgment and Halo 4 stray too far away from the excellent formula of their predecessors in favor of dumbed down and "[b]accessible gameplay[/b]".
Both communities are continuing to fall apart. With the dawn of the 720/NextBox, what will Microsoft have at the table beside their meaty list of Kinect titles?
Halo?
Gears of War?
Don't count on it. Considering the latest installments of these franchises have essentially sent them on a path into darkness.
How about Forza?
Quality, but it just doesn't have a large enough community on the Xbox platform to be a system seller.
Fable? Lol no.
I ask again, what's Microsoft going to do? How will they "win next gen"?
My Guess: They won't.

For a while it seemed like xbox was a different animal from the rest of microsoft. Now it is as if someone realized: "Hey don't we also make Windows? We do, don't we? Instead of making good products, we need to embrace the tried and true formula of making bad products and convincing people those are what they really want."

I don't really think these guys are intentionally straying too far from the series' roots, i think they are accidentally doing it or, i don't know, TRYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I agree with toxic in the sense that the player who are hating on it are just not used to the new platforms, just like you dude.

2 RepliesForza was an epic success for the entire duration of the 360 (as well as PGR3 in the beginning and most likely PGR5 in the beginning of 720) and this won't end when the 720 begins lol. What Forza has accomplished compared to Gran Turismo is truly amazing and is something even the most dedicated Playstation fanboys can appreciate. Onto Halo the community is not falling apart at all. What you don't understand is that Halo is the Xbox's flagship game and with the popularity [b](and cash)[/b] that comes with it also comes heavy scrutiny by fans. Every element of single player and multiplayer will be under a huge magnifying class and ignorant gamers and forum goers alike will believe those elements are bad because they don't go along with what they're traditionally use to. CoD fanboys who are use to CoD's online population look at halo 4's population and think Halo 4 is in turn a crappier game (which then leads into arguments over opinions), but in reality Halo 4 consistently ranks in the top 5 xbox 360 games by [url=http://majornelson.com/?s=LIVE+activity]activity.[/url] This is def one of the more stupid posts I've seen on B.net. With a Halo trilogy confirmed and halo 5 and 6 imminent, as well as the enormous amount of money Halo makes for Microsoft, you're really calling for it to not be in the 720.

I give so few shits about multiplayer that my shit taxes are in a higher bracket from not deducting enough shits, and I incur a shit penalty for not contributing to the shit-society's wellbeing. The shit-mayor looks down at me during town hall meetings and says "this man gives no shits!", and the crowd riots, because they all give so many shits. They even have to give some extra shits to make up for the shits I don't give. It's like shit-communism, but I reap the benefits of holding onto all of my shits. They give so many shits that at the slightest upset, they lose their shit and get seriously butthurt.

I don't know anything about Fable because I have never tried though I heard it was good, but clearly people thought that Fable III was a shit. Now obviously everything else in their stash is going to uber-fail, big time. And Kinect games will only work with little kids and young girls and literally no one else. Hardcore tryhards are going to be getting nothing from those sorts of games. But it'll probably still be better than WiiU and cheaper than PS4, so there's that. I believe that Destiny is currently getting set-up to be the biggest game of the next console-generation so far as all the other games are getting set-up for the current consoles except maybe Modern Warfare 4 which no one will like anyway. But you can get that on PS4, so I don't know. Still gotta be better than a gaming PC, that's for sure. I will probably just buy all three next-gen consoles over a period of time, starting with the WiiU and then whichever one's out next and then the last one (I think that's 720, then PS4, but I don't know...).

4 RepliesAt this point all I want is the Steambox to dominate everything. I like my Halo and all, but I'm unsure at this point about it. I'm unsure about a lot of games. But I continue to bow down to the mighty Gabe, and will continue to do so. Come on Steambox, please blow everybody out of the water.

I mean, Halo's main attraction was that it was more skillful than it's competitors, like CoD, and that gained Halo 3 ALOT of popularity. That and the very fun custom games and forge. Halo 4 took away all skill, the custom games and ruined forge, why do they expect the casual market to suddenly go from CoD to Halo, when: That's not how casual gamers work The casual gamers for CoD already believe Halo is shit for a number of reasons, you shouldn't try to win the casual market while alienating the fanbase what made the series popular. It's essentially like yelling at a deaf person to assist you over a perfectly compotent person who can hear you yelling at him for help.

Look at Gearbox they released a E3 demo for Alien CM and it was awesome. Six years of development and gamers were seeing what that would translate into a polished and fun game. But it wasn't, it was mediocre and embarrassing and a real loss for Sega and Microsoft in establishing a new solid FPS. This is the kind of crap that killed consoles in the early eighties. Rushed horrible games that were expensive, throw in the surge of gamers looking at PC again as a viable platform because it is viable again. Mod communities and steam and hungry developers are giving it life where console game developers are killing themselves by releasing sub par games. Thankfully gems turn up here and there that keep consoles relevant like Dishonored and Bioshock Infinity are doing for the top end of 2013.

We have to pay for Xbox live and we don't get very good deals or offers in contrast to PS3 or PC Xbox has evolved into an entertainment system instead of a game console Ads. As far as I am concerned, Microsoft isn't going to be lasting past this upcoming generation of consoles. Bad decisions about the how the console operates (if the rumors are true) and a very small list of good exclusive titles is going to lead to their eventual downfall.

yeah I don't know what they are doing with what used to be good games and making them awful plain and casual. What used to have flavor is now boring and generic games.
