Xbox Live Games on Demand sale: Worst Case Scenario
Worst case scenario: The next gen xbox doesn't transfer your purchases, and it has the games on sale for their original prices.

Im really hoping it does transfer games because have a lot of arcade and actual games on my hard drive.

I think the real worse case scenario is that Xbox 3 doesn't have backwards compatibility (as in, even if you wanted to play the games you previously purchased, you wouldn't be able to). And because Sony did it, it's not that far fetched to believe Microsoft would do the same (it saves money on the new hardware, and gives incentive for people to keep purchasing old hardware). I personally don't care though because I haven't really invested heavily into either the Xbox or PlayStation platforms (If a game is on PC, I buy it on PC).
