What are the differences between the Xbox 360 models and how will they impact Destiny?

Summary: If I play destiny on a pre-Slim XBox 360 will I have problems? So when I got into Halo 2, I bought an XBox 360 Elite. It broke, my warranty paid off, I was given an older model (I discovered this when I tried to use my original power cord), and it has currently been unused for quite some time now. What I am concerned about is the XBox 360 Slim when compared to my XBox 360 Elite and how my Destiny experience could suffer from lag or the like because Bungie optimized it to the Slim model. Are there any differences between these two models besides the outer shell? Do they have the same hardware? Will the same game run differently when played on both?

  • I want to say there isn't anything drastically different between the two besides aesthetics. If you're planning on buying a slim to play Destiny, i'd say save your money and wait for the new console to be released and play it on there. It would also save you money later since the others will be released on new consoles as well.

  • I still have my launch Xbox 360 Elite. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner waiting to die. The slim is much more quiet, and obviously, slim. That's basically the difference. Though, I don't see why anyone would buy Xbox 360/PS3 hardware now given the imminent transition to next gen hardware.

  • No there is nothing different with the hardware, if you put an xbox 360 disc in a functional Xbox 360, it will play normally.

  • Fun fact: The slim is purposely bottlenecked by Microsoft so that it isn't more powerful than the original console.

It's the same exact hardware in both models. The only differences are the cosmetics: -Built in wifi. -Size.
