Halo 4 and 5 plot theories (SPOILERS)

Ever since I picked up Halo 3 and found the last terminal, I have been wondering what Mendicant Bias' plan for the Chief was. It seems like everyone has forgotten about this plan, too. Here's what Mendicant said in the last terminal:
And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions. But I would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall be my example.
We all assumed that Mendicant was talking about betraying the Flood for his former masters the Forerunners, but after playing Halo 4, I don't think this is the case. Why would Mendicant send the Chief to Requiem as an "example" when Mendicant probably knew that the Didact was going to try and kill him? I have the answer: Mendicant Bias sent the Master Chief to Requiem to kill the Didact. Think about it: it was never explicitly stated which "former master" was being betrayed. It could have been the betrayal of the Forerunners again, not the Flood. Then, the quote "one life hardly balances billions" probably refers to the Didact either killing billions of Humans, or firing the Halos, saying that by killing the Didact, the wrongs that he has done cannot be undone. Bias could be a former human, like the AI that became 343 Guilty Spark (cant remember the name) and maybe he still holds resentment towards the Didact. It would make sense with the Halo 4 plot, too. Most of us were expecting the Precursors to appear in the new trilogy, and we were disappointed when they didn't in Halo 4. But it would make sense that, if Mendicant Bias was still working with the Precursors and Flood, that he would want the Forerunner's greatest warrior and greatest threat to the Flood out of the way. Now, the plot of Halo 5 depends whether or not the Didact is actually dead or not. If he is, the Flood and Precursors could appear early in Halo 5, if not, it would surely be dramatic if Chief killed him and immediately a fleet of Precursors shows up at Earth. Thoughts?

Just a small idea but I think that if they don't bring Cortana back, they will use a geas to fill the void she left. Alternatively, they may go this route to somehow bring Cortana back.

    • Weren't the precursors wiped out long before the forerunners were around?

There's nothing about that quote that suggests he still has interest in working with the Flood. But sending Chief to kill Didact, I guess that's plausible. Also, I agree with Chronarch, the latter part of the quote suggests he wants humanity to possess the Mantle. Lastly, this is off topic, but if Didact returns in Spartan Ops, there is no way I'm embracing that as canon. The Didact deserves to reappear in a full-fledged Halo campaign, not in a hastily thrown, overrated MP mode. Spartan Ops is neither a Campaign successor or a Firefight replacement. It's there to subvert Campaign!

        • How could the Didact be dead? He talks in the epilogue of Halo 4. Are you saying he died sometime between 4 and 5? Unless it happens in Spartan Ops, then it's unlikely.

          • Not going to lie, reading these comments has made me realize just how much of the backstory I have no idea about.

            • I do not think that Mendicant Bias is still on the side of the Precursors/Flood, he seems to adopt the same goal as the Librarian upon becoming metastable - helping humanity attain the Mantle. On the subject of Mendicant Bias' "master" and supporting the possibility he sent John to Requiem to kill the Didact, here's a piece of dialogue from Primordium:
"But I am the one who knows your chosen name, your true name, and who commanded your construction." "That is so." "Then I am your client and master."
~ Didact talking to Mendicant Bias in Primordium

              • You see, if they actually mentioned this kind of stuff in game, it would've been a lot better.

              • It is stated in the books that Mendicant Bias is a contender class AI, and nothing hints towards the possibility of it being made out of human eccense like Spark. Talking about the master thing. If he was sending the Chief to kill Didact, for the Flood, it wouldn't make sense that he said But I would have my masters know I've changed. If that was the case, why would he have to once again prove his loyality towards the Flood? It's just waiting for the last book of the Forerunner saga, hopefully Didact's, and the Precurors (and or Flood), true intentions are then revealed, which could place this text of Mendicant into context.

              • Or, 343 could have retconned this just like they did every single thing in the Halo 3 terminals.
