Suggestions Thread

Well, we finally have it. Bungie.Next. Yet, I can already see discontent between the members. So, instead of having 5,000 threads of "What is this? I don't like so and so...", here's a suggestion thread so you can voice concerns and ideas. After all, this is a Beta. So, let's hear them. I'll edit problems in to the OP. If you find confirmed fixes for problems (As in, a Bungie Employee said so), let me know and I'll edit it in to that list. From the Community (Bold Topics are Mentioned Often) - Edit Text Size/ Layout Color - Comments in Ascending Order, Oldest at the top and newest on the bottom. (Includes having to open replies to certain posts) - Would have liked Custom Avatars (Coup?) - Sub Forums (The Way it Was) - Mobile Theme for Phones/Tablets - Darker Layouts - Recent Posting History (Seeing more than just the past 5 posts) - Return of Preview Button/ Make Comment Button Larger and More Accessible (Not Just at Bottom of the OP) - Inbox/Chat system seems to need a little tweaking - More Customization with Forums (Set Latest/Most Popular as permanent, have ability to choose Ascending/Descending) - Threads in Descending Chronological Order - Custom Skin to change to old Color Style (I.E. Themes) - Return of Larger Avatars - 25 Posts per Page - Darken the Line Between Posts - Some are having trouble logging in on new site - Return Pinned Threads - Return to the Old Quoting System (Get rid of Comment/Replies) - Option to turn off "You are leaving B.Net" Pop Up -Tags in Posts are not marked as clickable (No visual Indication) - Like/Dislike Buttons for Comments - Preset Searches for #'s - Forum Listing of Threads is too Big - Get rid of direct replies - Personal User Statistics -Ability to Ignore a Tag Confirmed Fixes - Member Titles returning after the Beta - Posts from the Old Site are going to migrate here, but it will take some time. (Saved Threads may be as well, unsure) - More of the older Avatars (Bungie Day) could be returning - Have Total post History for Users

  • Hi, below I have compiled a list of things that the community wants changed or added to Destiny. I don't want to sound too whiny, I understand that Destiny is still a work in progress and we haven't seen much yet. This is just feedback. Most of these issues and suggestions are not mine, they have been taken from the forum and compiled in a hope that this will trend and Bungie will see this list. If I’ve left your issue or suggestion out please discuss it in the comments -Joining a fireteam takes us into orbit and then the map area has to reload, this is simply a bother when joining one. For a socially oriented game like Destiny, this needs to be fixed. -Recustomising characters after character creation. This is desired by many many people who want to change hair styles, hair colour, eye colour and markings after creation of their character. Rotatable characters in the character creation screen, and hopefully a character modification vendor would be appreciated as well. We would like to see a vendor in the tower who either does these changes for free or charges very little glimmer. Exos should be able to change anything while the humans and awoken should be limited to the restrictions above. A human and awoken recustomiser should be close to the guardian outfitter and the exo recustomiser should be close to the shipwright. -People would also like more hair styles, hair colours, eye colours and marking types and colours put into the game. A colour slider would be an easy way to add more colours. More hair styles, marking types and beards should be put in. In a game with so many people, we want our character to look unique. -Taking off helmets. Lots of people want to see this option but only on planets with breathable oxygen. Remember the traveller made Mercury a ‘garden world’. -Beta progress transferring. There are mixed views on this issue, unfair advantage is one and why bother with the Beta is the other. My idea is that our vaults and glimmer transfer but characters don’t transfer. By transferring our vault and glimmer we can hold onto out hard earned items and loot but give new players a chance with levelling up. If there will be new hair styles, beards, markings and colours then we may as well start a new character, BUT, in saying that we still want a vendor in the tower who lets us recustomise our guardian. -A really big topic! I’ll link it since it is just so huge! http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/66461052/0/0 -Game volume options and settings -Trading, there are mixed views on this topic -When your ghost is taken out, it highlights loot which can be hard to see at times -Small sound when grenade is ready -Not mini maps but menu maps which we can look over areas we have already explored. -Better AI, current AI is a bit stupid -Buying things from vendors in our mobile application -Objective location needs a distance -Damage arrows are really hard to interpret wether it is pointing forward or backward -Bosses dropping loot to make the long and tough fights rewarding and less anticlimactic -Returning directly to the tower -Ghost flashlight option -Competitive sparrow racing -Able to see our character and not just an outline in the Destiny companion app Love the game so far though, having so much fun! Bungie, please make this a real Beta test and not just a demo. We all really want to see changes made and feedback listened to.

A raise in the amount of groups you can join. I tried to join another group today and it told me that I'm limited to 10. The limit before was above that. In fact, when it gave me this notification, I was already in 11 groups. So, therefore, I would have to leave two of them just to join one... Hmmm.

    • I already made a thread for this suggestion, but I think it got buried. Still getting used to this new thing. Anyway, new suggestion regarding pictures: I propose we have an option somewhere in our profile settings where we can toggle the visibility of pictures linked with posts. This way you don't always have to reveal the picture separately. It would effectively turn the forum into somewhat of a psuedo-image board for those who prefer that style of posting, without compromising the original vision the web team had in mind. While it may seem like a small addition, it's all about personalization and I'm sure a feature like this would be appreciated.

    • I want a little 'BETA' emblem next to anyone who used the site in its first month/week, kind of how mods have 'NINJA' and employees have 'BUNGIE' next to theirs

Tits and Tweaks for Bungie.next I definitely agree with having larger avatars. I'm not sure if 90x90 would look good but I would argue that the current avatars are too small. While it doesn't look bad, in fact, it looks like they fit nicely with the site*, it just makes users feel more anonymous. Though people changing their usernames as often as they [should] change their underwear doesn't help either but that's a personal user-end choice. Bigger avatars would allow users to feel like they have their "identities" back. I also think users should have the ability to determine the order that posts are displayed, ascending or descending. I personally dig the current order and I've mentioned why in another thread. Also, it would be nice to have an option to auto-display nested replies. I disagree with the return of subforums and most complaints stemming from the "I want everything like it was before" camp (things like old quoting system, no nested/direct replies, etc.). It just seems like a lot of people wanted something completely different and new but they want it to be the exact same thing as everything from before. This parallels the trend that gamers seem to want their games to be new, innovative, and different than their predecessors yet remain exactly the same. It'd be nice to have the ability to use "page themes". Let users select a "theme" for their Bungie.net experience in lieu of the current white background (I figure this may change once information of the new game is released and images from the game could be used as page themes). I think this should fall in the same vein that the webteam wants with users being able to control their experience. Group admins should be able to select group themes that would override a user's selected theme while they are viewing that group. Lastly, I think it'd be nice to have "official" tags and limit the ability to use more than one official tag when creating a thread. For example #Community and #Offtopic shouldn't be able to be used at the same time. I think this would help preserve the idea of different subforums without actually sacrificing anything that Bungie.next is trying to do. For ease-of-use/display purposes, official tags should be a different color (Red? Blue? Tickled Pink?) My 2 cents. Overall, I really dig the redesign. * However, the small avatars might be a good thing considering posts aren't framed like they were on Bungie.old, in which case, I'm fine with it, might still want to look at possible changes but whatever, y'know?

Something that's starting to annoy me, all replies to a thread bump a thread, but nested replies don't always bump the comment they pertain to, so I'll sometimes see a thread has a new post and I'll end up wading through and playing a game of 'find the new reply'

      • Haven't read through the thread to see if this has been suggested yet, but I would like the ability to display more than 10 tags in the sidebar. Or at least have an option to display them all at once without redirecting me to another page.

      • No name changing, I have no idea who anyone is in private groups anymore. A users ID should stay the same but they can change display names once a fortnight or something.

      • Another couple of things: A possible bug of not staying signed in. I often have to press the "sign in" button again because I automatically sign out half the time when changing pages. A larger comment/reply box to type in. The return of the custom roles system in Groups rather than just "admin" and "member".

Everyone keeps saying there should be a color change, but I actually enjoy the change of pace. Possibly they could add a few set options to choose from. Even 4-5 theme choices would give people a chance to make small alterations to suit their own needs. Personally, I would stay with the white! **EDIT - My apologies, I just saw that this was already on the list. I second this idea!

There should be a limit to how many times we change our names and unique ID. Why are there two of them to begin with? For simplicity there should be one. But who knows maybe it has something to do with the new IP. Personally, I think Mods should not be allowed to change their names or unique ID; or maybe once. This isn't something personal against them. Mods and their names are remembered for who they are and how the community recognizes them, they are an important part of keeping things clean around here. Also don't like the idea of Foman going around with the title John Buttkiss and banning people. People won't know who truly banned them and this creates a level of inconsistency.

        • There is got to be a way to vote on the tags - a popular post ends up everywhere because it is tagged for everything. It would be nice if it sank to the bottom of the list for tags it doesn't really below with and to the top of list for tags that it belongs to organically. So maybe a way to like/dislike tags that have given to a post?

        • I'd like to see Sub-Forums return (Stay with me, not done yet.), but use the tagging system as a second layer of organization. So I could read a Halo 4 thread in the Flood, click on the Halo 4 tag, then be brought to a list of all threads tagged with Halo 4. I'd also like the choice to be able to choose wether or not the list that comes up shows all posts from Halo 4 in just the Flood, or be able to choose to expand outside the Flood to other sub-forums. Ex. Reading Halo 4 thread. *ClicksHalo4Tag* (This would take you to the page of all Halo 4 tagged threads on the Flood.) I don't see any interesting threads. *Clicks"ExpandTagsToOtherSub-Forums"* I now have a list of Halo 4 tags on all the forums. This would let us keep the preferred method of having Forums, but at the same time give it the social media aspect Bungie wants it to have. Everybody wins!
