Halo 2 graphics
I think the bungie team is doing a great job. All these computer geeks thinking that HL2 is so much better is completly stupid. The amount of detail being packed in this game is unreal. Its suprising to see the xbox hardware hang up there with all these high end PC's.

I will admit. I was one of those people that after seeing the Half Life demo, I thought Half Life 2 would be better than anything else. After seeing the new Halo 2 shots, and reading about Halo 2...I say screw Half Life 2 and hail Halo 2!!!

I think HL2 will definitely look better. You can't dodge that. When you're using computers with 5X or 10X the power, and have a graphics engine worth a damn (HL 2's certainly is) you're going to get better graphics. However, the fact that Bungie has managed to create so much detail out of an Xbox (which has only a fraction of the power of many of the PC's out there today) that it is comparable to HL 2 is awesome. Halo 2 WILL be the better game, though. The gameplay more than makes up for the rest.

what if we compare halo 2 and HALF-LIFE 2 (is that hiphenated?) both on xbox? the graphics will both be run on the same conponents so their arnt any unfair advantages. who will have the better graphics then? And i think that the half life story was exellent and masde the game that more enjoyable.

What you are saying is true...however the graphical quality of the game on a mid-range graphics card compared to a higher end card is very evident, noticeable, obvious, and amazing. So in the end it is worth it to get a Radeon 9800 if I want to experience a game like HL2 in all its glory.

what I am saying is even tho you have a radeon 9800 pro you arent going to get that much more performance. Valve cant build a game on that graphics card, because they know not everyone has that much money. So in short the game is also playable for the poor person.

Xbox can have the best hardware but it will still not have the graphics of the PC version beacause TVs cant display @ 1200x1600 like PC Monitors.... I was playing Battlefield Vietnam on my TV with a S Video Cable and i couldnt read the names and the Text....so i plug it back in to my 17' LCD Monitor and everything is perfect. You cant tell once your use to it but the Halo PC version of Halo has way more eye candy then the xbox version. BTW i have a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB

Even if you have an Alienware with all the high end stuff it doesnt matter. Half life is formated to run on mid range computers. So all that money isnt really worth it. My Response... I am really hoping you don't know much about computers or that I am not understanding you correctly....because from your post you are implying that a person with a Radeon 9800 is going to get the same graphical quality as a person with hmmm say a GForce 4 or the card that I have in my computer (which couldn't run UT 2003)....is this what you are saying Duce11?

Alienware is good but a waste of money considering no game in the world uses the hardware to the fullest.

Alienware does NOT suck, you are just jelous[sp?] that you can't afford to buy one! :) And I think HL2 will probably be a good game, if it ever comes out.......so I am looking forward to H2 more. And until then I will play UT2004 and Fable.

I am a big Halo 2 fan and I think Halo 2 will be better than Half-Life 2 but, the HL2 game engine (called source) is definetly a better engine than the Halo 2 engine. It will have better graphics than Halo 2 (we really can't compete with the next generation of computer games in terms of graphics) and anyone who has seen the Source engine's physics demonstration knows that Halo 2's physics can't compete with the Source engines physics capabilities. If you guys do some research on HL2 and the Source engine capabilities you will be blown away. What I think would be unbelievable is if [b] Bungie decided to use the Source engine for Halo 2 on the PC....now that would be the ultimate game [/b].

idk It dont have the WOW effect i was hopping. I mean doom3 graphics has a wow effect....halo 2 has a wow effect. HL2 is just.... ok..... Look at your screen again... There one good thing : The water ... its awesome [Edited on 4/13/2004 11:03:18 AM]

If the HL2 aplpha build is anything like the videos I've seen, [i]how the hell can you say the graphics suck[/i]?!?!? I have seen all the demos from E3 last year, and that game looks amazing! I have seen quite a bit of bump-mapping, as well as several other very good techniques. You are either totally BSing, or you don't know what you're talking about.

Bungie. At least for a long while. And thanks for asking, that gave me the opening I needed to get in on this. I'm startin' to like you Coylter. I've played Halo and Half-Life and loved both of them. Halo is far superior, but a much newer product also. HL2 is going to be awesome, not according to our resident expert Coylter, whose opinion I respect. But he said something that I totally agree with: Storyline. Halo 2 is going to blow the other two (Doom 3 and HL2) out of the water, so to speak, with the storyline. HL lacked any flow to the story, oh, it was there, just not in any kind of interesting way. If they can't get you into the game with more than stunning graphics and fun gameplay, then they only have an engine. Now, on the HL side of things....I have Counter Strike for XBOX, same game as computer right? Hell if I know, but the feel of the gameplay of CS on XBox is MUCH more like Halo than RS3 or the other FPS's on XBL. So when I feel like playing a good FPS on XBL, that's where I go. I think they'll do some things right, but Halo 2 will have the proper mixture of everything, the cake with all the right ingredients, where as HL2 is probably not going to have enough egg to make it fluff up right.
