Master Chief; The Last Spartan... or is he?
There has been requests for a thread dedicated to the discussion of the possibility of more then one Spartan appearing in Halo 2. Well, here it is. Lets try and keep post in this thread limited to ones that say more then, "THAte wuld r0xxor!!1!"
You are encouraged to discuss the pro's and cons of having multiple Spartans, and the options or limitaions that would arise from such an addition.
There have been arguements on whether there are 1 to 10 Spartans left, but all we have is speculation.

THE BOOKS AND THE GAMES ARE DIFFERENT so u cant rely on the books to give u any info on halo 2, unless bungie said the books are their game plans, which i dont think happened but if it did some one tell me, and prove it

I dont think that earth doesnt have enough time to get more spartans other that the 4 from the spartan II

I think that the plot will have something to do with the spatan 3's even though mc never c's mendez again i have a feeling he'll c the spartan 3's

I want MC to be the only one. If there are others, then I won't get to kill as many Covenant.

I think it would be cool to find out what happens to all of those Spartans that we hear about in the books as well, but not to incorporate them in the game. Maybe make them appear in some of the videos in-game but to stick with MC as the main character all game long. Not to make too big of a change in the game and to make people who hate games like Brute Force or squad based games like that not like Halo 2.

for those of you reading the books and dont want me to spoil the book for them, do not read this well in the book HALO: First Strike, they find out that the spartans are still alive, so there might be more spartans in halo 2

I think that earth might have a religous item or need that the covys whant i mean they didnt bomb africa cause in the Movie trailer the MC was on his way to an african City so maybe Just maybe they whant some thin to do with egypttion pyramids. " one of the seven wunders of the world"

well, from the looks of the first trailer, they are bombing it, bjt not glassing it. i guess they are probably looking to see if there are any other human planets they can kill by accessing earths databases.

well if u read the books then u no how REACH got decimated and there was a lot of SPARTANS on the planet protecting it.. so it would be very un realistic for MC to be on earth all by himeself while the covenant make their invasion which is bigger then the one on reach

im suptised no one has pointed out the fact that during the mission breifing before reach in TFoR, halsey says there are three spartans too distant to be recalled easily.....

But also what about the flood i mean in the book Halo:First Strike theres a sergeant that has Flood DNA in him so dont you think that the stupid A** govermemt will whant to clone the flood, That's a nother real Question. ;}

Don't forget that in Halo:TFoR it explains how only 30 odd Spartans fully recover from their augmentations (nessecary for their MJOLNIR armor). But never the less there still were about a dozen Spartans alive but didn't fully recover from the process and and were either paralyzed, set on resperators or put in wheelchairs. Such as Fhajad who has been put into a wheelchair, these crippled Spartans may not have the body or the armor of the still-kickin Spartans such as John, Fred, Will, Linda, Kelly and the 3 out of reach. But they still have their sharp minds that are used to overlook and plan ops, annalize captured data the whole lot. In fact Spartan-034 Fhajad was promoted through the ranks to Luetenant Commander and was actually working with ONI Section Three on Slipspace travel. So in all there may be as much as 20 Spartan still alive. This is of course considering that the 3 other Spartan out of the system are still alive and that the 12 immobilized Spartans are still alive and haven't died from their injuries.

Here's a good question for you. In Halo: First Strike, as Dr. Halsey looks through Colonel Ackersons file she finds a file on "S-IIIs"(Spartan III), and also in Fall of Reach when the Spartan IIs trainer, Cheif Mendez leaves the Spartans it mentions that he was off to go and train the next group of Spartans. The Master Cheif is well over 40 years old by the time he reaches Earth, and by that time at least 2 or 3 new groups of Spartans had been trained. I find it strange though how their is no other mentioning of these new Spartans before Halsey saw the file on the Spartan IIIs. The only problem is the Docter didn't open the file to reveal what was inside thanks to the Covenant trying to penatrate the Castle Base. So my question for you is....what every really happened to these other group of Spartans, and will they be another part of Bungies twisting and turning plot? I have a feeling this will not be the last of we hear of these new Spartans, and hopefully they will be incopertated in Halo 2 in some way.

I have read all the books more than once but its been a while since I thought about halo:the fall of reach. I can't remember where chief petty officer mendez went to. anyone know?

I think Bungie had that part about the 5 Spartans put in there for a reason, I think there will be some type of involvement with other Spartans in Halo 2.

I doubt there will be different character sizes, if there are different characters at ALL. We don't want another "Odd-Job" running around.

I think that they might also introduce squad based gameplay with MC as the main character and the other spartans as the squad memebers

WidowMkr, I realize that at the end of the book there are only 5 left. However, I have seen arguements that there are as many as 10 left, they aren't good ones, but they are arguements non-the-less.
