Marathon Symbol

Question: Does the symbol for marathon (the circle with a magnifying glass in it) mean/stand for anything? The reason im asking is because i just noticed it on the new wallpaper with 343GS (in the center of 343 on blue). Maybe this has come up before but i havent noticed... I mean is the symbol something bungie uses frequently or does 343GS have something to do with marathon?

 • It's more to do with the fact that Halo has a lot to do with Marathon: The whole SF first person shooter thing where you play a super-soldier trying to kill a group of vicious alien races, getting directions from different AIs. Story-wise, however, it is not significant: Bungie has said that the two stories are not inter-related. The symbol is used many times in Halo: it's hidden not very subtly on the Halo logo itself, it's on Keyes' badge, it's even placed prominently on the side of the Pillar of Autumn. And the control room, when viewed from above, is a sort of "negative" Marathon logo made by the walkway. So it's not really something to get excited about.
the circle with a magnifying glass in it
What the hell? That's a new description. It's more a circle within a broken circle. The "magnifying glass" is negative space. - Reiginko

 • The marathon symbol is just to show Halo has Marathon roots or something
