Will Halo 2 support 720p or 1080i?

Just wondering if anyone has heard any juicy rumors about possible HDTV support or perhaps a true 16:9 480p for Halo 2? Sorry if this is duplicitous, I haven't figured out how to do a search for this particular topic and it wasn't addressed in the FAQ.

 • None of this confirms that Halo 2 will have 16:9 widescreen support. I've been waiting a long time for that answer, seriously.

 • No not angry, just tired of seeing pointless thread after pointless thread. Not that this was a pointless thread, but it could have been found by looking for about 30 seconds, and then this thread wouldn't clutter up so much space that could be used to talk about something important. gasp. What a long sentence, sry, just too many stupid threads posted by people with no education at all apparently. I mean I learned punctuation when I was in elementary school but whatever. Sorry didn't mean to sound angry, just baffled by people's lack of curiousity to look around the new site.

 • I guess for now we have to accept the "official" status quo as 480p, although the rumors persist for higher resolutions. I actually bought a 720p television last year with Halo 2 in mind. Oh well, even if it "only" supports 480p I'm sure it will look absolutely terrific -- texture quality is often more important than resolution. Also, sometimes games are previewed as HDTV support inclusive and then it's yanked at the last minute due to frame rate issues or what not (GTA III and Vice City come to mind),

 • It doesn't have to be official. Notice the 1600x1200 screenshots? Not that 1600 is the width of a 1080i projection, but you can rest assured Halo 2 will support 720p and 1080i.

 • Frankie talks about some cool HDTV and surround sound stuff here. ~Link~ We explain the jargon, chat about the benefits to Halo players, and even lighten the load for people who accidentally bought EDTV instead of HDTV. As far as we're concerned, EDTV is NOT the way to go, since you can't really use it to watch HDTV programs (although it's fine for 480p gaming). Shouldn't bungie's only concern be Halo 2? Why would they care whether or not I'm watching other programs in High Def? I know, it's wishful thinking on my part, so please don't bust my balls. Thank you.

 • My bad, you're right; I must have just skipped by it or something. You sound really angry though, maybe you ought to have that checked out.

A In addition to supporting normal television resolutions, Halo 2 will run in 480p resolution when connected to an HDTV. Actually it was in the FAQ. Next time read it before deciding something is not in there, it was towards the top for god's sake.
