I am going to have to admit that I was rather disappointed by this!! Seriously Tom, couldn't you squeeze a few more 7's in there?? I mean, I was actually surprised that it wasn't 77.77.777.77 or something to that effect. Maybe with the Newer New Hawtness this MAJOR issue will be rectified!! If not, I don't know if I could possibly have faith still in the community team >.<

I think they should scrap IPv6 and move onto IPv7. [Edited on 2/22/2007]
Posted by: Achilles1108
Posted by: BerserkerBarage Well, the number listed above (65.59.234.97) is the actual IP address of Bungie.net. Say for example, if you are using IE like I am, and you would go to the address bar and type in (65.59.234.97) it would take you to B.net. That number is essentially Bungie.net's home on the internet. I was commenting on how I figured that essentially B.net's address should have more "7"s in it since Bungie likes the number so much. However, you can't exactly pick what your IP address is going to be, so it was much more of a joke than anything else. Does that explain it well enough for you? ~B.B.
Wow. Pretty sad that you had to explain the joke.
'Tis indeed. I suppose my response to the joke would be somewhere between a smirk and a snicker. It was sadly missing the reference to 3.
Posted by: Josher 35
Posted by: BerserkerBarage
Posted by: BobBQ You think IP addresses grow on trees or something? Maybe the reason behind your neuron loss...is the inability to recognize a joke on the main forums from someone who is completely convoluted.
Ah, but you're forgetting that in order for someone to be able to take a joke, the joke must be funny... explaining the loss of neurons. Oh, and just in case, this was a joke, har har har.
Oh, because demanding that Bungie change their IP (which is almost impossible) is completely believable. Not hyperbole at all. Then demanding that they change their IP address to something that as far as I know is impossible wouldn't suggest that I'm joking either. Then claiming that because B.net's IP doesn't contain more than one 7, it's a HUGE problem wouldn't suggest I was joking yet again. Oh, and Prometheus, I can call the mods/overlord pretty much anything I want, the first of which would be their names. God knows that it would be weird if I called them by their name, and not something completely random or misspelled (which normally happens with Achronos). Simmer down people, it was an attempt at humor, and apparently most of you have no sense of it. ~B.B.

What's wrong with the I.P.? Anyway it's very unlikely to have the same number in the whole of an I.P.
-
If the IP isn't 7 enough for you, leave.

You can't exactly 'pick' your IP...

I don't understand this whole thing itself... let's ask ol' Tommy here.

I wouldn't have said he was calling him by his first name, but merely an abbreviated form of his alias. Anyway, this is an interesting thought that I've never pondered upon.

Here where I am, we have whole orchards of IP address trees! I'll sell you one at a reasonable price. Maybe the reason behind your neuron loss...is the inability to recognize a joke on the main forums from someone who is completely convoluted. ~B.B.
Alright, the whole calling mods and staff by their first name is kinda old. That privalege is reserved for One One Seven. See my previous post for my thoughts on this subject...
Posted by: One One Seven Or in easy terms, because every segment of an IP address only has a valid range of 0-255
Noooo! The secret is out! Net Techs will no longer be able to confuse customers about how IP addresses work!
Posted by: elmicker http://117.117.117.117 FTW.
It's not taken? Wow...quick, somone find out where that IP address exists and move there to claim it.

We can keep the same IP...we just need to make it, dare I say it? Darker.

You do know IP's are semi-determined by physical location, right? And in any case, the maximum number of 7's Bungie could get into an IP address would be: x77.y77.z77.a77 where 0 <= x,y,z,a <= 2 for reasons known to net techs.

what?
