Should I..
I'm having a problem in my relationship, my girlfriends dad doesn't approve of our relationship and he has yet to meet me or even talk to me. He refuses to let our relationship continue(know that she is 18 and in college. I'm thinking of talking to him myself, in eyes of other, maybe other fathers, should I talk to him myself or sit by?

My girlfriend's 18, and I'm 17 about to be 18 too, and we've been together over 3 years now. Her mum hated me for about a year, which was pretty annoying and often got in the way of things, but once they've spoken to you and realised you're not that bad then things should be fine. I wouldn't recommend confronting him about it, but be polite, be talkative when you do see him and he should come around to the idea.

First question, how old is she? However, regardless of that answer, go talk to him. I find the reason things like this tend to happen is because some parents are overprotective of their children, but things improve once there is actually communication. You need to understand his caution. If she is 18, she is probably a senior in high school or a freshman in college. I would probably behave like the father just because his daughter going from a relatively sheltered high school life to college (where there are a lot more freedoms and unknowns) could be scary for him. But you will have to talk to him eventually and can't sit by.

The only thing I can think of is for you to take a potion that makes you sleep so deeply that people think you are dead. Then when she is visiting you, you will wake up and the two of you can escape to be together. What could go wrong?

Nope, dont do that, your asking for trouble. You need to wait until her Dad accepts her relationship (he relises that its going to happen wether he likes it or not) and develops acceptance of you being there. Something like this normally takes time and your better of not pressing the issue. Wait. Until he comes to grips with his little girl being with a boy Trust me, don't do it, let your girlfriend know about this idea as well she what she thinks, dont risk your relationship on something like this, you also shouldn't care that much its not like your planning to marry her already [Edited on 01.08.2013 12:31 PM PST]
