I've given up on gaming.
I hate to admit it, but games aren't as great as they were like around 2000-2007. Ever since 2008, games have been getting worst. I'm just not interested in them anymore... I personally haven't played my 360 since 2011, and I'm playing mostly indie games now for like 1 hour a week... Are games getting worst or am I just getting old/growing out games.

I'd say a lot of the mainstream games are getting sloppier and sloppier, yes. Just go out of your way to find the games you want to play instead of playing what everyone else is playing.

Really, they are. It's not a nostalgia factor. The companies are making games with the least effort possible (i.e. CODpypasta) and selling them for the same price. I am given some hope by things like Reach and Black Ops II, showing that the formula can at least be shifted a little bit and the companies are willing to try it.

I have to agree with you that I don't get the same enjoyment out of games as I used to. There are a few great games out now but it just isn't the same as it was during the SNES/Genesis, PSone/N64, or the Dreamcast/PS2/NGC/XBox eras. I guess I'm getting old.

Just out now: Skyrim DLC, Far Cry 3 In the future: Path of Exile, Dota 2, Destiny, Metro: Last Light, Warlock: Master of the Arcane, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, GTA 5 [b] But since you sound like you're into indie titles, I would suggest you look up [i]TotalHalibut[/i] on Youtube, he makes tons of videos on indie games and a few mainstream ones as well. [/b]

Either other things have occurred in your life, leaving you less time to play, or those other things have given you more joy than playing video games. This is labeled as, "growing out of video games". The other plausible scenario is that, because the industry is constantly changing, the products they're now making don't interest you. Nowadays I see the industry as trying to produce cinematic, mature, interactive movies instead of producing abstract games that I so much enjoy. I stray away from mainstream titles and find the few gems floating around in the indie-space or other. [Edited on 01.07.2013 9:45 PM PST]

Like any hobby, you can get bored of video games. Leave them for a while, and check again in a year or two to see if you wanna pick them back up.

Just like cars, most features that were on one car that people liked then others are going to implement them, i.e. power windows that aren't needed but all cars have them. Also, I see that 2000-2007 were the golden years of Halo. I believe games ought to be given more artistic freedom because 343i or Microsoft's puppet is trying to put CoD in their game to sell it better but this ain't the automobile industry and making similar games just would reduce the consumer's incentive to buy different games since if all games are the same then what's the point?

There are still plenty of fantastic games that you haven't played. Even if you're not interested in the latest releases, you're perfectly able to go back and check out games you missed. Or you mite b growing out of them. Who knows.

I feel the same way whenever I play games alone. Frankly my friends are the only thing that makes it fun for me anymore.

Play with friends. I have a group of 5 friends who I play Halo 4 Custom Games pretty often with, and it's always a blast.

I barely buy games and they have become so boring for me. Which sucks since I've always loved games.

The games are definitely not getting worse. The only thing anyone can legitimately claim is that they are staying the same, but there is no possible way you can say that video games are actually getting worse. You are probably just moving on. Just like any other type of hobby that you get bored of.

Sounds like you are growing out of them, games aren't really getting any worse..Well, most games aren't. Some people grow out of them, I sort of am too. The game I've been playing most is Dark Souls, and when I'm done with that, my hours playing will plummet to zero. Preoccupations take root as you get older, that is for sure.

Both. Quality is going down as developers rush to get their games out the door in order to rake in the cash. I also find myself finding games to be less entertaining as I get older as well, so I say both.

I haven't turned on my xbox in months. I don't have as much time now as I did a few years ago, and I haven't found a game that I've like as much as Halo 2 and Halo 3.
