Do you reckon we'll see more species in the Halo Universe?

Whether it would be in novels or games, I think we'll know of more species before Halo is over. We know that the Flood originated from somewhere outside of the Milky Way galaxy and we know of the crashed unknown ship we see in one of the terminals in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (I think it was in that anyways). There must be more intelligent life out there, in the Halo Universe, other than the ones we have seen and read about so far.

  • Perhaps. It's reasonable to assume so. Although I'm not sure if they would appear in the Forerunner trilogy. There are lot of loosed ends to tie up. The fate of the former Covenant client species is still uncertain. What happened to the Brutes? The Drones? The Skirmishers? Is the Jackal in Halo 4 a massive artistic design change, or are they actually a different sub species like the Skirmishers? What are the Brutes doing? We know the continue to fight against Elites for a while, but would they ally with Humans to fight the Storm (an Elite led faction)? Where did the remaining Prophets go? Will they attempt to muster up whatever Loyalist forces are left? Would they join with the Storm, given the chance? What about the Flood? Lots of speculation there, but they must return. Then of course there are the Forunners and Precursors. Forerunner like the Didact want to wipe out Humanity. Would the Precursors want the same? Will the appear? Would the Precursors ally with Humanity? There are many possibilities and questions with just the species presented so far. I don't think more species are needed, at least not yet.

  • The galaxy alone should have thousands of different sentient species. Cryptum stated that the ark had over trillions of different species. I wonder why we haven't heard from them yet :( Bungie had great plans for Halo 2 and the Halo MMO was supposed to feature many new sentient species. I hope 343 explores more alien cultures including the Covenant. It's funny that we now know more about the once mysterious Forerunner's culture, then we do about the grunts, hunters, drones and other covie species(excluding the Sangheili).

  • The galaxy is a pretty big place, and there tend to be a lot of aliens in sci-fi media. So yes. Definitely.

  • In a Halo: Anniversary terminal, Guilt Spark states that in the 25,000 light year range of Installation 04, there were 3,000+ worlds capable of sustaining life, and it could be many more than that. And that's just Installation 04... So I'd presume it highly likely that there is life other than Humans/Covenant/Forerunner/Precursor in the Milky Way. Hell maybe the "mystery ship" from the Silent Cartographer terminal is a hint to a new, much more dominant race making its entrance in Halo 5. Think about it; if a race had enough time to develop like humanity and the Covenant, and wasn't tied up in 25 years of genocidal war, they could be more powerful than both; not as much as the Forerunners/Precursors perhaps, but still pretty strong. • Precursors were, like the Covenant, a conglomeration of several races. Given that they're returning, we might see glimpses of what they were before they gave themselves to the Flood.
