What if Bungie did a remake of Marathon?

I know most people now are overjoyed with bungie's new game coming out Destiny (Not saying i'm not either) but i think it would be terrific if Bungie re-made Marathon to relive those great moments marathon fans had for there first time playing marathon it also be interesting if they'd also bring in a online multiplayer system with the remake but that's thinking too far ahead. but since i'm just a individual in this great community for all you hardcore bungie fans and randoms i'd love to hear your opinion so comment below ~Doom Guy [Edited on 12.02.2012 3:21 AM PST]

The game felt pretty good when I played it.
I've never been able to play Marathon for more than 30 minutes without feeling dizzy or getting a headache. I love the story, but the levels just all look the same to me and finding my way around is just like pot luck. For this reason, I'd welcome a remake so I could give the game the appreciation I wanted to give it years ago.
The map helps. Also, you might want to turn down your mouse sensitivity or something.

 •
Posted by: That Doom Guy either way it's a win win for the fans (if it's a new game or if it's a remake) and though your right about it being a resolved era you have to admit it would be breath taking to be back on the Marathon with new HD graphics and have another rematch with the s'pht and the pfhor just for old times sake ~Doom Guy
It could be cool, why not. But let's imagine something. You're playing Destiny and you can unlock Marathon remake maybe as an easter egg or even as a minigame like what Blizzard did in Starcraft II with Lost Viking shoot'em up or ID Software in Rage with Wwolfenstein 3D level, that would be cool no ?. A game in a game.

 • I hope they won't because Marathon represent a resolved era... And by the way, concerning the hypothetical "Marathon" remake, from many sources it's possible it isn't what ya'll think about. Some people are saying it's a new game under the Marathon name just for dupe people.

 • you bring up valid points but even the slightest chance for a remake should be at least grateful for. Still thank you for pointing that out

 • I wouldn't really bless Activision at all to be honest, the terms of the alleged contract are extremely harsh compared to Microsoft's agreements - for instance, if Halo, Microsoft's flagship title, got an overall review score of 80 then Bungie would be entitled to royalties, but for Destiny they have to get 90 from a specific reviewer or they lose out majorly. Activision also have the power to pull out of the agreement if they feel the project isn't going where they want it to go. Part of me wants Bungie to do extremely well, completely retake the console world by storm again. But I can't deny that another part of me somewhat hopes they burn out in realisation that they should NEVER have partnered with a publisher with a track record of screwing over developers. • The terms of their agreement with Activision allows about 3-5% of the Bungie team to work on a Marathon game.
