So there is a lot of talk about there being player-based factions in Destiny, My question is if so, what is to stop the hardcore community from coordinating to control one faction and squash the rest?
I know that's what I would want to do, I think it could tip some scales, even if the Bungie community represents a fraction of the total players.
Unless, of course, they make each faction so different that players will be evenly drawn to the one that fits them best, preventing what I mentioned above.

I say we all agree on one faction and destroy all other factions made up of nonb.net users. We will be the master ra- ...faction.

All other factions will wet themselves when faced with the Community Faction.

That would be interesting. But if ever to happen there would always be an opposing force that would band together to defeat them in m opinion.
Posted by: x Foman123 x Or, really, even a single detail.
I lol'd. It's true, we know literally nothing about Destiny at the moment. Were we querying Destiny before the concept art leak? Not really. That's how it's meant to be until Bungie legitimately reveals something.

I think we already know some about Destiny factions. Their ensignias at least. New avatar pics were added when we first heard the word "Destiny" muttered from the bowels of the Bungie-Beast. (Forgive me if this is common knowledge.) Example, guy above me. [Edited on 12.01.2012 10:07 PM PST]
Posted by: burritosenior Unfortunately, it's an unavoidable reality. All of Bungie's research won't be able to save them when Dead Orbit (the Best Orbit) takes over and dominates all the games, always.
Making them fight with pistols against plasma jezzails and shatterguns won't work. Doubling reticle bloom at dawn and dusk (when they're not fully in the Traveler's shadow) will not work. Laughing at their sad devotion to a giant floating ping pong ball will not work. I almost pity the other factions. Almost.
Posted by: x Foman123 x I think it's a little early to be worrying about stuff like this. Maybe wait for some details. Or, really, even a single detail.
Recent new, new events and information would disagree. But I won't post anything because I didn't see it come up in the IGN thread. I would be very disappoint if Destiny had no PvP at all. ©
Posted by: POKEY CLYDE What if the factions work together towards bigger goals? Just, each faction does seperate things. Hypothetical example: Dead Orbit faction researchers space and the traveler. FWC Deals with aliens trying to take the city. New monarchy deals with stuff within the city. So whatever faction you go into does different things. So you would choose the faction most suitable to your playstyle.
That would work great in theory but the community would never agree on the same thing.
yes, but then PvP loses it's flavor, at least in warcraft some people truly got psyched out against the opposite faction. but I could be wrong, maybe it will be more dynamic than I think.

I don't mean population tipping, I mean skill tipping. It's not like everyone is going to make a giant bungie fan clan, I'm a lone wolf in most games, but it would make sense for the pros to choose one faction to play for, and then attract other pros to join them.

I'm sure Bungie's taken this into account. They've got 8 years of free UR from World of Warcraft with respect to how factions work in opposition to one another, raids, tipping the population scales on purpose, etc. ©
