Teenagers that like bands such as The rolling stones, The Beatles...
Do you think they are considered weird by the rest of our youthful society?
Every other teenager I talk to likes music such as Dubstep, Katy Perry, Among other stuff in the rap, hip hop or pop genre.
When I say I like the bands like The Rolling Stones, David Bowie or Led Zeppelin they give me strange looks as if I'm a creature from mars.
So do you think this is a cliche of other teenagers, or is it true?

I live in Jacksonville so I like to go to the bars and see local punk bands, i'm generally not referring to bands you've heard of (not trying to sound like a hipster). It's cool seeing the effort poured out into these small gigs. [/quote] Pop Punk is Popified Punk like No Doubt and the Offspring. Bands you see in a bar generally are not Pop Punk, they are just Punk, just a different kind. But really, in the end it's up to taste. I can throw on Dark Side of the Moon specifically, or Phil Collins, or The Who and just chill for hours. Listening to DSotM while lying in bed with your eyes closed is kinda surreal. Who needs pot when you got a strong mind, eh? See, I dig high energy stuff too. I went to a Judas Priest concert last year, and that kicked serious ass. Metal concerts in general have a lot of energy, a lot of power, and are a lot of fun. I would not mind going to see more bands but we don't have any local bars here that have bands play. All we got in my area are sports bars, and I am not driving down to the LA area to have a beer and see a local band. It's just way to far. Maybe one day once I get out of my area and out into the great US.

My interpretation is be able to connect with others.....so if you're talking to a cute softball player...and she looks like she listens to Rap, don't start talking about Mick Jagger cause shances are she don't know who the -blam!- he is. Don't be surprised when you discuss old school music to people like her, and get looks However old school R&B, like Motown and those funk artists, everyone knows them. Lot of my boys listen to old school rock and roll, and during practice we always listened to Guns n Roses, Aerosmith, Zeppelin. It's unfortunately the freaks who don't shower, and wear the same ACDC shirt everyday, who give honest guys like the OP a bad name[/quote] Best post in the thread !!

From the Scrams of Halford, to the smoothness of Pete Townshend, and the kickass heavy hitting vocals of Bruce Dickenson. Just listen to what you dig, and dig what you listen to. Quiet night? Turn on some deep tracks like Eminence Front, or all of Dark Side of the Moon. Want some energy? Listen to some Thrash punk, or Alt Rock. Want something Mellow? Throw on Knights in White Satin. Just sit back and enjoy. [/quote] Bro, the Doors is one of the most awesome bands that ever existed. I have a complete collection album, or used to before I lost it. I'm actually a huge fan of dubstep and hip-hop and music on the radio and whatnot. But over the summer I somehow got into classic rock and other old songs through pandora. by far the best thing that could've happened to me. The older music is so much better!! and has way more meaning than today's songs about sex and money and all. I still listen to dubstep and all, but I prefer the older stuff now and have adjusted my car radio to stations that play older music instead of the new stuff. You're normal OP!!
